Seeing as I'm pretty much stuck on these trucks, I think it's about time I start documenting all my s10-isms. This thread will get off to a boring start, but i promise to document my v8 build as it progresses..
So here is where my redneckness started. February 2009 I was working in construction, and needed a small truck. Initially I wanted an oldschool yota, but the prices are too damn hiiigh! So after i gave up on yotas, I went for the next best looking thing: a first gen s10. I really liked the look of the 1st gens, and I loved how they were laid out mechanically... so after searching for a few weeks, i found the exact one I wanted.
red 91 ext cab sonoma, red interior, manual, 4.3, 2wd, with a posi. I got it with a cap, a set of winter on rims, summers on rallye wheels, a ton of centercaps, rim trim rings, and a box of used headlights.
over the year I owned it the cap came off, I ran it straight pipe, and during the summer, rocked it durty with clean mags and tires. I had alot of fun with it...
It eventually met it's end when a front bearing when and the body mounts started going. sold it off before having to spend money on it...
During the summer I got my dad's beater s15. single cab 2.8 5 speed 2wd with a shitton of parts. The 2.8 was burning oil like a hondapoubs and the rear brake cylinders popped... so I just cut it up and harvested parts
Now fast forward to march this year, I needed a new DD. Having a small pickup was my best option, especially a 2nd gen 2.2. Great gas mileage and cheap to maintain, yet still durable and useful. So I bought a reg cab 94 s10 2.2 manual.
To start off, I ditched the cap and useless bug deflector, threw in a rollbar with some cheap fogs.
After a while the ugly teal color was pissing me off, as was the useless carpet, so I ripped out the carpet, and hand painted the truck with some industrial john deere green. Then i just enjoyed having a truck i didn't have to worry about scratches or getting the carpets wet...
This one was sold a few weeks ago. After doing the brake lines, the clutch line went, the front brake line went, and the starter went. So i said "fuckit" sold it for $500, not even running or stopping on it's own...
so now on to my current s10's:
I got my s15 not long after I got my first s10. It's an 85 s15 sierra ext cab. Originally a 2.8 5 speed, the truck is currently powered by a 305 4bbl with headers, and backed by a TH400 autotragic. Since I've had it, I haven't had much time to do much. Just a tune up and some driving. it's just a fun truck to drive, and the swap feels as though it came oem.
4doorsmorewhores whut?
So next on the agenda is to swap the heavy, slow, th400 for a proper NV3500. tearing down my parts truck will start next weekend...
And my current DD? Another 2nd gen poubs. Originally my sisters dd, I traded her a sunfart for it. 2001 s10 2wd reg cab 2.2 manual posi diff. It's currently sitting on 235/75/15, and I'd like to go bigger for winter...
this is it compared to my friends ext cab with ZQ8 suspension pkg
The horrid Jewish racing gold was pissing me off, so I gave it a quick mad redneck tremclad job this weekend.
other than that, it just needs to be reliable...
so stay tuned. detailed posts and progress pics will be posted
