Playa del Carmen, who's been?

I'm going for two weeks in January, don't think I'm going all inclusive style...

Anyone know how expensive it is outside the hotel? Like restaurants, bars, etc. I know there's a Wal-Mart. lol
 
X2. PDC is really nice when you're in a All Incl. IF not, it's a beautiful city but ghetto to lol.. Cozumel is a must

It's the new "North American Ibiza". Which week are you going? If you like house music there's the bpm festival. It's organised by canadians and it's FUCKIN SICK. Lot's of drunk topless girls dancing in the sea with world class dj's. Google it.

And there are LOTS of nice non inclusive hotels on the 5th avenu or any other litlle adjacent streets.

Here's an exemple: Blue Parrot suites directly on the 5th avenue, just aside the well known night club that has the same name (Blue Parrot).

I saw a few pictures away from 5th street, it wasn't the prettiest, but how's 5th ave?

To be honest, I don't really like the all-inclusive vibe. I'm used to actual vacations, not renting hotels, but houses/appartments.
I only did the all-inclusive thing once, vs a lot of other trips to other countries, and I didn't like the feel, found it too boring. I find you tend to stay in the resort.

Also with PDC, I don't wanna stay in Playacar, as it's gated and outside of the action.
To be honest, I'm going for BPM, which is a Techno music festival, and happens within PDC, not Playacar.
 
Bingo. I'm going for BPM. Most of my travelling has revolved around music/festivals. I've done Ibiza in '08 and WMC in '09 as well.

PDC is apparently the cheaper Ibiza, with a MUCH better vibe than WMC (less RoidMonkeys and Silicone...).

The dates I've set are January 3rd to January 17th.
I was really wanting to go the 2nd year it was on, and kinda lost interest for the 2 years after seeing there was way too many people I knew attending, I don't feel like being on vacation with the same crowd I see partying here.

After seeing last year's lineup though (+ The Rebel Cave party), I said fuck it, I'm going. On top of it, My job closes for the first two weeks of January, so there's no reason no to go.

I have a fridge. That was my minimum requirement.
The hotel has other rooms with Kitchenettes, so I may upgrade when I get there.

The site I was on had pricing that made no sense, it was like a super sale. I rechecked all the other sites I was on, and the cheapest I could get this room for was 1200, so I booked right away. Either way, with this booking, I can cancel up to TWO days before the trip.

Makes absolutely NO sense. lol


now I'm just pissed off the Bracelets went up from $350+fees, to $450+ higher fees.
 
I wen't last year to Playa del Carmen for a Day on 5th ave. There is a lot of little restaurants good food, good prices too, you just have to find what you like. For the night life I can't really say I went with the familly and sayed in the resort for the rest of our trip!!!
 
Go to coco bongo, its awsome.

Went to pdc last year, nice beach, not too hot since theres always wind. Dont take tr caramaran trip to tullum, it sucks, just go to tullum its a nice place, heard good things from cozumel.
 
The first 10 days of the trip to be honest are going to be purely for partying. It's a techno music festival. The last 4 will be for relaxation, and sight seeing if we have the energy, I think. That's why I got to make certain of what I wanna see within those last 4 days. lol
