CALABOGIE lapping AUGUST 24th FRIDAY!!

Not looking good for me so far. M3 is still misfiring, even with new coils, sparkplugs, injectors, fuel filter, alternator, ecu... Only things left; fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator and battery. Hope i can find a solution...

Same boat as me... I've been chasing a misfire for weeks now... Changed MAF, Coils on plugs, spark plugs, Ignitor chip... Still happens...

I redid the whole fueling system last weekend. Brand new Walbro and Aeromotive fuel pumps... hopefully that will solve my problem...

Gonna go do a 20 mins this monday to test it. If all goes well, I'll be at CMP this friday!!

and hopefully try to do the gentleman race too.!

too bad for the motor!!

Too bad indeed... I'm curious to see where to problem is... I know a bearing is dead, but which one. And more important, why. Guessing my oil pump died or lost pressure. I'll check the racepak datalog if I can see anything.

Guess no calabogie this year. Oh well!

But damn the noise of a shredding bearing trying to get out of the engine is scary when pulling too many Gs in a corner!!

RIP SR20DET #1 - 10000km of track time in 4 years!

Might be lucky and able to find a built SR20DET for a reasonable price. I'll see.

Checked the datalog from the last session. Was putting down high 58s low 59s with the R888. Oil pressure was slightly getting lower as the temp were raising. Started the session at 60psi ended at 40psi.

I'll check some other day's datalog to see if the same thing was going on and my oil might have been a weight too low.

What is considered as an "intermediate" driver? Do I qualify even if I have never been there? I have that week off and would really like to try a different track other than just ASE.

Mon bolide est sur le Dyno ... si tout va bien, je ne manquerai pas une soirée ou track day.

Avec tout le temps que j'ai perdu cet année, il faut bien que je me reprenne :D

If you can, even after the follow-the-leader session, try to get an instructor in there with you for a complete session. This track is really something else..you will see !
Consider it an investment for the rest of the day.

YOU WILL LOVE THIS TRACK !!!!!

See you at CALABOGIE !!!

Wow!! What a great track and what a great day! Thanks to all the ASE LC team for a fantastic event.

Here is an a bit of my experience from the day (as per the request from BlackVW). I was going to copy the complete blog which included the month leading up to Aug24 but I decided to just give the day of only.

Woke up at around 5:30am, couldn't really sleep anyways. As I've said before I was excited. Checked the weather and it looks like the rain is going to stay away. But at the same time, the temp was going to rise and humidity on the way. On my way to the track from the motel, missed the street to turn and added about 5 more minutes to the total drive. Finally at the gate and my excitement level rises even more. I can barely remember what the lady told me. First up, sound level check. I revved up to 5k rpm as per instructed and get an A-OK, in fact he tells me I am nice and quiet. Hmmm, too bad a local cop didn't agree with him several years back when I received a ticket for an exhaust non-conforme, but that's another issue. I was worried for nothing, you should have heard the other cars *cough* Porsches *cough*, you can hear them when they were on the other end of the track! Time to "set up camp" so to say. I became separated from the other club members by an enclosed trailer for a local guy driving the Xr4Ti. It appears as most of the club members literally camped in their cars over night at the track paddock area. Damn, the driver's meeting interupted my paddock area set up time. LoL. Good meeting anyways. OK first timers can get an experienced driver to follow just to learn the track. Man that didn't really work out, by the second lap I couldn't even see him anymore. He was long gone with others who knew the track already which I had to let by. Oh well, good thing I studied up on the track by watching vids and reading the official track guide that was on the CMP website. First few sessions were more reconnaisance type lapping, never full throttle anywhere even on the longer straights. I think it was a good idea, since there were 2 or 3 incidents of cars spinning out in front about 2 cars ahead of me. On one of the morning sessions, as I let someone pass going up the hill heading to turn 15 Ridge, I see something shiny fly up from under the car and land again just before my front bumper. Luckily I wasn't any closer or that thing could have done some damage. A lap later and everyone is waved off the track and into the pits. I hear it was some debris on the track that they wanted to clear. Lunch break and Carl has that same shiny object in his hand, trying to find the culprit who deposited the thing onto the track. A 22mm open box wrench which was eventually discovered to belong to the guys next door in the Xr4Ti. I checked the fuel gauge at lunch and calculated that Carl was right. I needed more gas, even after refilling from my extra fuel barrel. Top off the tank at Stinson and refill the extra barrel, which I most likely did not need. Anyway, I used that extra barrel to fill up for the trip back home. The afternoon sessions were better as I was pretty much familiar with the track layout now. But being fast at it is a completely different story, and I was here to have fun just working on a few corners at a time per session. I think I have to come back next year because Calabogie Motorsports Park is an amazing track and I encourage everyone to at least try it once. According to my gps laptimer, I was lapping on average about 2min57sec with a best time of 2min53. It also calculated an optimal laptime of 2min51, so I think I did pretty well for the first time there.
