The mid 2000s were the glory years. Imo the 2011 model doesnt do the car justice, but the picture you posted is also not the most flattering, and grandpa silver cant help any

This happens often.
People have and are used to one model and then when it's redesigned it's kind of critiqued hard.
Car looks are really a matter of taste and there's no room for facts or such in an argument like this cause it's all preference.
I personally hated subarus early on but ended up really liking them.
The new hatchback was the same case as I'd be like " wtf is this little girly car" when I saw a pic and then I saw one in person and was like " this thing is mint"
As for the the the new sedan, it's the fastest Subaru yet on the nurburgring with 7'55 time and I find it's nice actually

I have the exact car as listed in OP. It's so much nicer than the hatchback, IMO there is no comparo. The hatchback has always had shitty proportions, a STI is meant to be 4 door with a huge wing, there's no way around it. If anything the '11 Sedan is what the GR should have always been.

not everyone wants a black car because you can see rains easily .. not everyone wants a white car because its too girly or because you can easily see dirt .... silver looks cheap. Now you have either gun metal or a darker color ... dark blue there you go !
