Anyone ever made the switch from liking fast cars to a DD and toys?

Looking for 02/03 WRXs but I'm so demotivated because they're all cruddy and beaten to hell and back. Due to reasons I cannot disclose I need to basically be ticket free for the next 2ish years and fastish cars aren't great for that.

I was thinking of maybe looking at a smaller pickup, Colorado type size and then picking up a skidoo/seadoo to satisfy my need for speed. Anyone ever done something like that? Dunno if I'd look back and go best move of my life or wtf was I thinking I could have had a WRX.

went from a fast car to a 106 hp civic, now i miss speeding. but i made this choice to save a bit of money (modded cars always break) and get some points back cause i almost lost them all.

for the look i'd rather go with the tacoma SR5, if you don't need the torque of an american V8 i would go with the tacoma instead.

Or you could have a nice reliable DD and a track car/toy.

I have a 100% stock TSX as a DD and the turbo land yacht to keep me sane.
I find it fun to have a project and get to drive it fast @ the dragstrip.

Best of both worlds. A stock car that doesnt inspire you to drive fast as a DD and a weekend toy/project.

The great thing about a used car is you can always sell it a few months later if you change your mind and you won't lose that much moneyz.

i sold the s2k because even a mint condition one is a pos. now im driving a 99 c280 sport, it cruises, is comfortable as fvck but bores the shit out of me. i am looking to sell it and replace with an e36 m3 to have some fun with.

btw a miata is a great all year car, especially if you get a hardtop, they are really cheap and very fun without being very fast

That's funny, I was looking for the same type of truck instead of getting the WRX that I got. And also for similar reasons having to do with license and points and whatnot haha. If I had a truck I would consider getting a motocross or something for sure.

Anyway, pointless post here but all I can say is that once I picked up my WRX I knew I had made the right decision. But it is great having a truck. In my dreamworld I have a sick truck pulling my sti swapped GC track car on a trailer. ;)

I have a Mercedes E320 4-Matic for sale if you want EV...

Pick that up, great DD and then buy something as a toy.

I have a sea doo with 260 hp that I bought beginning of summer, hoping it would make me speed less. A month later I buy a gtr, now I'm screwed. It's addicting. I tried the boring slow daily driver, it sucks. Makes driving such a chore. For winter back into a slow car. This sucks

I kinda sort a did that ! Been really enjoying boats all summer... Before that I use to have a RXDI seadoo but never used it much because was always alone ... My mustang sat around all summer without me even wanting to put the motor back in ... I honestly did not give a rats fnn ass until last week when the boat sold and I saw two STI's two days in a row driving like f'tards... Then I knew I needed my car back to teach hem a little somethin about retarded driving.

I would say the sooner you can pass on the fast car thing the better for your driving record :) if that is really the priority. Then when you get back into fast car's you will be really smooth and in control every time you get behind the wheel of it.

I encourage you highly to try out some other powersports. You can find the same satisfaction as car's for cheap and different.

Yeah unless you don't have to commute very much having a boring car just makes it so much worse.

I should add a cheap better slow as shit POS is not the way to go btw .... Like most presented before me it makes driving sort of like a chore. I have a 2008 TL auto to get to work and its perfect to keep me calm ... Comfy , sporty-ish , good sound system , cheap on gas ... Pick your dayly driver well if you skip the second fast car.

problem is, you can get tickets with any car/truck now-a-days....except maybe a Samurai like 22rpower has

sea-doos are awesome though thing is, if you're used to a fun car and you really really enjoy that even in the simplest of circumstances (like taking a highway ramp or whatever), and knowing you I think you do, you will never be happy with something like a lifted pick-up....it's just at the other extreme. You can still get a not so fast reasonably reliable DD that you can still have the occasional fun in the curves with, and get a toy (like a sea doo) also, so that's my advice, get yourself a nice clean 2006ish 2.5 Impreza, maybe lower it, buy a sea-doo in the spring and that's it.

I've tried more than once and every time I sold my fun car I end up with a faster more expensive fun car shortly after. So I guess it doesn't work.

Why do you want an 02 wrx anyway, its not that fast especially in stock form, there all beaten to hell as mentioned, and they look dated IMO

I really would love to get into other power sports to 'hold me over' but Im a noob at everything except boating which is super expeezy
