This Porsche Cayenne 2011 is being maintained primarily by the owner itself but it also get washed off at the dealer and elsewhere. Like most thing, we’re never best served by yourself right? Haha Well let see the defect I have to correct today.
Process:
2bucket wash method
Prep towel
Chemical decontamination
2-step polish on rotary
Raceglaze Pink paint cleanse
Raceglaze Black Label Special Reserve wax
Aquapel
Trims got a coat of Raceglaze Color enhance
Interior cleaned using various products
Spraying some Iron-x all over the car:
Washing inside of the wheel with a wheel woollies:
Then it’s time to use a boar brush to clean the calliper and lug nut:
Once dried, I tape the trims and take measure of the paint and inspect the defect:
And now here’s the 50/50 I did to judge of my combo for the day. It’s very important to do a test panel before doing the full car and realising I went too aggressive or not enough! (Happened when I used to be a newbies
We all learn from our mistake!)
Great correction for a 2-step! It didn’t need too much, most of the defect on the paint is due because of bad washing technique = minor swirls.
This light is like a Sun Gun but with a better patterns then the 3m sun gun IMO:
All taped:
Little parking scratches( you know it when its on both side of the rear bumper!). The owner didn’t expect me to remove it but he was quite surprised to see 95% of it was corrected
Applying Aquapel to all windows just after polishing them with a windows polish:
Wheel sealant being removed:
Once done and Raceglaze Paint cleanse applied:
Remember the deeper scratches that were highlighted by this light. We barely see them now.
I’m not going to review Raceglaze Paint cleanse but I plan to do it later on by comparing it to other paint cleanse on the market. All I can say is this paint cleanse ( pink version) have a very pleasant smell ( Am I wrong if I say lemon-type ?). Goes a VERY LONG way. I would say 1oz can be enough to do a car. If you used 2oz, you clearly used too much!
Both application/removal is quite easy. Maybe a tad more difficult than Chemical guys’s ez-crème but easier than SV or Zymol cleanse for sure!
My only complaint would be that it is a bit too liquid, IMO, I would prefer if it had the constancy of Pro cleanse ( the white version).
Time to get serious; Raceglaze Black Label Special Reserve.
What is it? First Impression ? Well Black label is flagship’s Raceglaze wax. It contains 66% carnauba by volume so you can expect a good durability out of this product. Special Reserve is a very limited edition to 5 jars in the world. I’m flattered to owns one. It’s an uprated version with 76% carnauba by volume. This means it should be a little bit less oily and have better durability. In the same league as Swissvax Crystal Rock. And when you think about it being in the same league as a big monster like Swissvax teaming up with one of the best detailer of all times; Paul Dalton, it means something! Hats off to Mark at Raceglaze!!
Packaging: Umm… 11/10 Am I allowed to give an extra 10% to a review !? Look around, shop around. You will see wax in fancy acrylic jar, cheap plastic jar or stupid plastic jar that would crack or separate ( *cought* Swissvax double walled jar *cought*) being sold for the same price of more than Black Label. To my knowledge, this is the fist time I see a wax in an aluminium jar ( Actually Chemical guys just come up with J97 but its being sold 400$ more and it’s not as pratical as this jar). With Black Label, your getting a quality of jar out of this world. Aluminium jar that feel heavy once you hold it. Drop it on the floor? Hahaha who cares? It will never break! The thread will never strip like some plastic jar might after numerous use. And finally, have a look at the O-RINGS. One on the outside so you can put your car on the car without sliding off the paint or scrathing it and theres one O-ring inside so it will always be fully sealed.
The special reserve comes with a carrying case, very neat. People think I’m a secret agent with a special weapon HAHA. But since this case is limited to 5 users, I will skip this part.
Scent/ Feel of the wax: I know Mark won’t agree with me on this one and ultimately he should know better than me right?! But I feel like this wax smell like strong vanilla (strong because it has a hint of cinnamon). End of story? I think fruit smell is so-2000s. It’s outdated. I much prefer this type of smell. It’s feel a lot more luxurious. The texture of the wax is also quite different than what you will be used to; it feel sticky! It’s not as hard of a wax as Collonite wax for exemple but you can clearly feel the very high % of carnauba. Most high-end hard wax will be hard to the touch but once it melt it will turn oily and transfer easily on the pad/bare hands. Well with Black Label it doesn’t seems to turn that oily. It kinda feel like a paste wax from the time your transferring the wax in the pot to the paint, it will remains and is paste form.
For this reason, I think Black label is a wax very different than the lot. It’s very different than its sister Raceglaze 55. I just love it. I can guarantee you if you buy this wax it wont feel like ‘’just another one of those waxes’’. Unique feel!
Application:
Now your reading this and its seems like Black Label is the BEST wax in this world ? Well. I’m a very honest person and here’s where this wax has is CONS.
Wax on: Like I told, unless you let the wax cook outside in your trunk, if kept in the fridge or at 15-20 celcius, this wax will never be oily like Raceglaze 55, for exemple. It will always stay some-what pasty/sticky. So it’s a bit harder to apply. After 2-3 applications you get the twist and you don’t use too much but I’ve seen wax that goes a longer way than this wax. There’s a member on here who said that : ‘’ it feels like your leaving a real protection on the paint’’. Well it really do! No doubt about it. Being thick like this, it really feels like your leaving something on the paint.
Wax off: This is where I have sometimes a problem with it; being thick like this, I feel like the wax always haze a bit. ( with heat created by the sun or engine bay, the wax/oil tend to evaporate a little bit). So it’s best if you can give it a coat, let the car sit in the sun for 3 hours and give it a second wipe-off. You can also give it a shot of distilled chilled water or a diluted QD. Or I also found out that sometimes after wiping off the wax and had slight smears/haze, I then reach a BRAND NEW microfibers and everything wipe off. This lead me to believe that even if you wash your microfibers they will never perform as good as brand new MF.
I make it sound like a real pain in the butt but it’s not for 2 reasons; the finish left by this wax and his durability is well worth the extra 15 minutes it will takes. 2) Let’s be honest, if your paying this wax is because you enjoy waxing your car and your not in a hurry or you’re a pro detailer and you want the very best for your customer no matters if it will takes 15 more minutes! 3) This wax will last easily 6 months so you only have to do it twice a year
Durability: I tested this wax for one year now. It will easily last 6 months. And it’s one of these very few wax, like Zymol Vintage (selling 10x more), that the look/carnauba glow tend to last as long as the beading last. Remember what I said about not being very oily? It means the oil wont slide off the car after 2 weeks. If you apply a QD from times to times or take minimal cares of your car (like parking the car inside), I believe this wax will last 12 months! Yup, 12 months for a beauty wax.
Look: Still very subjective but it is IMO, the wettest/carnauba glow on the market on par with Zymol Vintage/Royale.More than Swissvax Crystal Rock. After 2-3 coats, the glow this wax gives is unbelievable. It might/should mute a little the flake in your paint so if you look a glassy/shiny look, this might not be the wax you are looking for. However if you have a jet color ( no flakes) or appreciate a wet-look. Look no further.
Conclusion: This wax is a very special one and for the price is sold. There’s no reason, IMO, to not give it a try. I can’t believe peoples will prefer to try SV Concorso/Mystery or Zymol Destiny/Atlantique instead of Raceglaze Black Label. I think this wax is one of the most overlooked quality wax on the market. Don’t forget it comes with refill and Mark is such a nice guys that even if you buy used your jar, it can still be refillable no question asked!
Thank you Raceglaze for producing this Special (lol!) wax. I love it and will keep using this wax for a long time.

Look at the panel reflection!

Thanks for looking and hope you enjoyed this review because it took me quite a while to write !
