What's up with engineers bragging about being engineers?

It doesn't make your dick any bigger.

Every single person i know in engineering can't help but mention that they're in engineering.

Brb, socially awkward
Brb, never seen a pair of tits
Brb, studying your ass off
Brb, bridges still falling apart
Brb, brb

Bro,

I'm an engineer.

But Concordia engineers aren't real engineers, except for Darkfenix, 250R.

On a serious note,

Engineers brag because they are lower level professionals. The market is flooded with wanna-be engineers. You've got one at every corner. Kinda like in the mid 2000s you had accountants a dime a dozen.

I only know a few really good engineers,

Darkfenix, who literally builds shit out of nothing

Frankenstein dude with the Skyline in the members section, he is a wonderful designer, I'm always impressed by his work

250R, who I've met and really does seem like a smart guy.

Plus there is a shitload of bullshit programs that claim to be engineering or genie, but aren't recognized by the order of engineers. Look for the shiny ring on the pinky, those are engineers.
etc.. few others here and there.

^That's true. But let's agree that there are tiers, if you're social awkward, you have a hard time expressing yourself or you don't have lots of self confidence, you aren't going to be a top tier engineer.

This is how it works:

Top Tier: Social pro, able to orate, good bullshiter and business man, good engineer (could be mediocre actually)
Second Tier: Not very social, able to give speeches, good engineer
Third Tier: Horrible socially, can't pitch shit, Excellent engineering capabilities, top of his class
Fourth Tier: Horrible Socially, can't pitch shit, mediocre engineer
Fifth Tier: Good socially, went to a shitty program, good bullshiter, horrible engineer, fucks up everything, ends up working in management.

all the engineers and developers I work with are full of themselves and have massive egos. crushing them is my job and a pleasure.

also, excellent thread.

I know a bunch of brilliant engineers. Usually the wannabes are the ones that brag, but have no genuine interest in what they're doing. The ones with a passion for what they do are usually in a borderline autistic state hyper focusing on their work.

In practice, When you give a wannabe an assignment, they brag about what they can do and offer all type of suggestions you dont need or want. A good engineer will get to work like a kid excited to play with a new Lego set.

A handful of the Engineers i work with hold impressive patents, none of them have big egos. a few of the junior engineers do.

In the end, Monkey Gon Monkey in any program. It doesnt take above average intelligence to graduate from engineering. It does, to do something notable with your life.

couldn't tell. At L'Udem they're all at polytechnique so they're isolated from the population.

My "boss"/supervisor/the engineer in charge of the job doesn't really brag. He finds subtle little ways to remind me though. Fresh out of school last year. Whenever we have a problem he can only really solve it 50% of the time. He's book smart, but you can tell he's never really worked. Most of the time my partner and I are telling him what should be done and he just agrees.

It's a PITA really.

Odman, when i think of engineers, most of them are tier 3. They have trouble holding up conversations about things they don't know much about (which is everything except engineering). Then they look at you with this psychotic gaze like they want to rape and kill your family dog.

talked to an engineer not so long ago. He was laughing at me because i was working on a farm. he was really full of himself.

Saying things to me like : oh you working on a farm? You probably dropped school very young?! (Fuck you i did my highschool +''diplome d'étude professionel'' )

or :Oh you are producing milk? That's cute i make road bridges and other shits...(Yeah but without milk, meat or food you wouldn't create anything you smartass)

Exactly.

Farmers are kinda like the roots of our society, which is why I have big respect for them.
