Beware of Freeport Forwarding at Champlain!!

catharsis3k = never went to Freeport and/or never gets out of LaSalle.

When I used to live in Canada I would go almost weekly. Hell, they would let me go in their warehouse and get all my things myself. But that's besides the point. If you enjoy getting screwed, then play by the rules like an obedient little puppy and keep on getting screwed. I'm done here.

lol, this thread represents Quebec perfectly. Everyone is afraid of the law, taxman, police, etc. Nice little sheep.

You make it sound like you're above the law or are you part of the 'freeman on the land' movement?

First of the taxes you pay will make the country run (whether if it's well managed or not is a whole new discussion) when you're sick and go to the hospital and don't pay a dime, that's your tax dollar, don't like you pay? why don't you visit some other countries that don't have medicare and die of very basic illnesses cuz they don't have money to treat it?

Second by collecting taxes at the border part of the economy is saved, if you have someone who's in the textile industry or farmers you'll thank the border guys for taxing people and discouraging things you could buy here. Our small fragile dairy/produce economy is no match for the US and by taxing people who prefer shopping in the US, that's what saving them a bit.

third, granted not all law enforcement officers are nice but blatantly disobeying or going against them is plain stupid. If you got problems make a complaint, go to the media or make it known instead of hiding behind your computer

It's only after you get caught that you realize how fucking stupid your action was.

I used to declare my stuff all the time, then day in 2007 I had a big bright idea to order tires online have them installed in Plattsburgh and not declare them at customs to save the taxes. Guess what, they some how knew and I got caught and black listed in 2007. I never did it again and I seriously go once a month to pick up a load of stuff. No joke, I find that if you declare things chances are they will let you through without paying taxes or they will only charge you sales tax and won't charge any duties.

I still regret that stupid idea to this day! It's actually really hitting me today since I am applying at the CBSA and also for a NEXUS Pass and this could very well play against me even though it was over 5 years ago. All that for a stupid mistake I made when I was young and didn't have much money!

Think about future implications this could have on your life.

I agree.

I went about 6 times this summer to pick up stuff, and always declared it. The last time, I happened to have about $600 worth of merchandise. The lady at the counter checked my bills, and said "thanks, I won't make you pay taxes today."

I was kinda frozen for about 10 seconds, not really getting what she just said. Maybe she saw how many times I came though spending only 15 mins in the US.

So no, they're not idiots who just want to make your life miserable. But if you take them for one, they'll be sure to show you how much of an idiot you are.

What are you an idiot?

They tax income and they tax spending. They are double dipping and it is immoral. They tax property, food, water, all the essentials. They tax you whether you use a service or not.

Catharsis has his heart in the right place but the reality is the system will fuck you if you dare lift your head.

The reality is, in Canada and especially quebec, man is not entitled to the sweat of his brow.

Because by declaring your shit at the border you are paying taxes into a corrupt system that isn't worth supporting. You are paying into the salaries of hundreds of thousands of government workers that have no clue how real money is earned.

And the attitude of the border guards is the same as that of the cops or any other law-enforcing agent. After giving in so many of their freedoms to the state in the name of security and tranquility, the people have effectively turned themselves into perpetual kids. And then they wonder why the government comes down so hard on them.

O lawd.

Is there a place similar to a "freeport forwarding" on the other side of cornwall? If so, whats it called?

I go to FPF pretty damn often and so does a couple friends of mine.

And I agree with Janno ... same thing happened to me. If they see that your honest, then they wont bother you and sometimes let you go.

Lulz were had.

You should probably read my post carefully before. As I said the system is not perfect but it is sustaining. If you want, then you can look at other countries that tax less but also offer less services. Go to country that doesn't know what 'welfare/government assistance' means. You'll be glad we pay taxes and get services.

I'm curious now, what do you suggest since you think I'm an idiot you must have a better solution, please share it with the class.

How else is the government going to finance their current ways of frivolous spending and rampant corruption if they don't screw us over? Somebody has to pay for that shit.

Quebec is one of the only places where I've ever heard of people being taxed on tax.

You do realize that Freeport Forwarding operates in a foreign nation and has no legal obligations whatsoever to CBSA nor would it make any financial sense for them to "snitch" on you. They're just a middle man in the shipping business. They don't give a flying fuck what you do with whatever parcel you just picked up nor would they know which port of entry you would be going to on your way back and when you would be crossing the border again.

You thought you could outsmart the system but in the end your lack of integrity fucked you over. You have no one else to blame but yourself for what happened to you.

Just throw your stuff away in the big garbage bin at the last parking spot before the border.
Great idea...and next time you'll go to freeport you'll be warned not to do that again or you will be red falg at freeport and they will not accept your package anymore.
Garbage bin are paid by weight and it cost a lot to a compagnie...the shopping mall in champlain(and any other buisness around the border) frequently, look up the empty box and watch the security camera and report back to freeport.

god you guys are fags
Everyone smuggles shit in its fucken obvious. Dont act like you havent tried. Stop belittling the guy for warning us.
