Hit and run, replace fender or repair?

Do you guys think my fender is salvageable and could be repaired, or should I just go buy a new OEM fender and get it painted and installed?

WTF?

Anyway that spot might be tricky to repair because it's right on a spot where the sheetmetal is folded. I'd see a bodyshop.

You're probably right. I wonder if I need to get the paint blended into the hood-bumper-door since it's a metallic finish...

And I'm not suprised this happened, my car is always parked on a narrow road, it's a matter of time until a snowplow passing by scrapped the shit out of it. There's no way it was a car or SUV that did this. There's no paint smudges on my car, the damage is too high for most cars or SUV, and there's no tire marks in the snow leading up to my car... I may be wrong though. I walked around my area for a while looking for grey paint on bumper at that height, with no luck...

One way street? People are capable of doing their worst when they are parking :S

Je dis comme alain, c est directement dans le pli de la tole, je doute que ca se fasse facilement, mais encore la what do I know, ya des gens ici qui font du body, je suis qu ils pourront te repondre. Good luck.

THIS !!

These guys look like pros. It also often cost as much as your deductible would on a full paint/fender repair.

This has to be repaired/ repainted
Looks like about $500ish to do

Yup pretty much, for the fender alone it's about that much.

Got it checked out. The fender can be repaired, but the bumper has scratches on it, so it needs a re-spray too. The quote at the dealer is right around 1000$ to repair the fender, re-spray the bumper with taxes. I don't feel like shopping around for a better price, or possibly having a shitty job, so I got a police report done and I'm getting it fixed at a VW dealer and I'm letting my insurance cover the costs. At least I'll have a rental while it's getting fixed and my corrosion warranty won't be affected.

Looks salvagable.. did a mazda2 the other time almost like this. BUT, your paint might have cracked on the fold to the bumper...

I'd try my luck at kenny Upull. I think it's $15 for a fender? IF you find one the same colour and in good shape, you're in business

Repairable for sure ! They won't need to blend on your bumper/hood/door if they are qualified painters with proper product and knowledge.

They have enough space to blend that color within the fender. It need to be repaint, i can see cracked paint on the upper part of that damage.

If you claim this, they will go with repair/repaint.

I gotta say, the service at La Capitale is excellent.

Claims department answered my call right away (no waiting), the agent gave me their name, told me they'd be handling the case from A to Z. I told them I wanted it to be repaired at a VW dealer that doesn't sub-contract to an independent body shop. They found the dealer for me, the whole process took about 5 minutes. I called the dealer right after hanging up and they already received the claim information. So far so good!

The dealer wants to replace the fender instead of re-painting it, so I'm hoping the insurance approves the cost of a new OEM part, instead of a jobber one. We'll see how that goes.
