Hi everyone. It's kinda funny how all the the question about admission is on this racing site -_-

I want to apply to international business or finance

I am currently a student at John Abbott college in the commerce program. I had just recently switched out of science and I am now in my final semester of commerce. Because I failed so many science classes * yes I should have switched out earlier * my crc is low.. even with acing my commerce classes last semester.!! it is now a 22.. ( i need a 26 overall) but i asked some counselors they told me you still have a chance to get in because I shouldn't be penalized for the science courses i took before when im applying only to the B Comm programs. but I find my situation to be very unique and was wondering has anyone else been in this situation?? did they accept you? I don't find it fair that my crc is so low because of those stupid classes :(

I have done Cal 1 (grade of 78) and doing linear algebra now.
I have also done Macroeconomics (80) and currently doing Micro.
and quantative methods (85)
There are both above 75% and I am positive I will do well this semester again. the admission says i have to get 75% and over.. anyone have this situation or know someone with this?

Thanks a lot :p

What you'll probably have to do is apply to a Concordia Economics program and then switch into John Molson after a year.

Apply to international business at first then when you get accepted make the switch lets say after the first semester. You don't touch Finance classes in your first year since you need pre-req's anyways.

If over 75% you should be exempt.

JMSB's doing a lot of filtering this year, so you may also be given the option of B.Admin to finish up courses but since B.Admin is not inside JMSB, you'll have to get the GPA requirement before transferring in.

Oh I see! I will do that then. Thanks!
But for the B Admin. is for people who didn't take all the courses necessary to be admitted directly into JMSB? By the end of this semester I will have everything. or how does it work?

B. Admin is in case you can't get into JMSB, you'll be able to do some B.Com classes so you won't fall behind. It's not meant for you to take as first choice since you have the pre-req's from CEGEP.

I also recommend seeking professional advice from JMSB or at CEGEP. Admission has been changing recently.

I understand now. Do you apply to B admin? like should I put it as my second choice or will they automatically put me in if they choose to? Sorry for so many questions :s you have been so helpful

They will look at the R-score, not in the course types you had (So having science classes doesn't mean you'll get favored over other applicants, some faculties at McGill do that though).

What you need is the minimum r-score cut-off for admissions AND the required r-score for math classes, the University only looks at those.

Like others said, better throw an application for the lulz and see if luck strikes you back.

Apply to the following:

1) B.Comm
2) B.Admin
3) Economics

Anyone can get into Economics, so worst case scenario, you get in there, do well on first year and try to switch back into the B.Comm.

Hope it helps.
