Who am I, Who are U?

I like how that's the only thing people noticed in my post -______- You've never heard of a woman who saves her gift for after marriage? I mean I can't be the only guy here that has waited up until marriage...sure it's a little old school mentality but I see it that it shows loyalty to me and to her.

Only a little old school mentality?

I speak very poor French, but I try my best every day to practice as much as possible, both for my own sake, and out of respect for the place that I now call home.

My other interests are wide and varied, and I think it's perhaps due to the nature that I grew up, but I have a great fascination for all things militaria, particularly anything from WWII and Cold War onwards.

I'll say 2 things, First, you just put your finger on the precise thing. I'll explain by explaining my little story. I was born and raised by french-canadians parents but i have members of my family who lives in english Canada & U.S Some of them are even unilingual english speakers. I did learn english at a young age and speak it fluently since i'm like 5 or so. Few years ago i moved to Sweden to live with my Swedish girlfriend. I didn't knew swedish language and to be honnest i tought it was rather hard to learn. So i took the easiest way... make english or french speaking friends which i did. I think it is also a matter of feeling more "secure" when you are not at home... Then i realized that i was loosing a perfect opportunity to learn a good language and discover a culture (You never know a culture until you know it's language). And i've learn Swedish. Since then all doors opened, i started to act like a swedish person when i was in public. This is not about forgetting who you are, it is to embrace the new culture you live in, and to be accepted. Like you said it is a way to respect the culture and people i now live with. I got promotions and got a very nice job as Human Resources Director in a IT Company.

I moved back to Montreal in 2009 with my Swedish GF (which is now my wife). She did learn french and work in IT as well.
So i really encourage you to learn french :D You can do it.

I also wanted to add that i'm a big WWII & cold era history fan.
thanks for sharing your story!

I'm 33. Been with my wife since I was 19, married her when I was 22. Have a 4 yo daughter and a 2 yo daughter. Also have a 2 yo maine coon cat.

I have a BA in linguistics but have always worked in IT. I'm currently doing documentation and support for a software company, working on special effects and movie editing software. I love my job it's pretty cool seeing what people can create with the software I work on.

We bought a house in Chambly in 2011, but are selling it now to to rent a townhouse in Montreal (most likely Nuns Island). This will be our stepping stone to hopefully move out west to BC in a few years.

I love cars and pretty much any complex mechanical device, from engines to guns and watches. I drive a civic hybrid and a ford expedition. Total opposites. I'd love to drive the truck to work everyday but it's a major gas guzzler and would bankrupt me with my current 70km/day commute.

It might be "old school" mentality but i understand and respect that. I think it is a really nice way. Now when there is one thign that pissed us off we change partner. We are use to "use and dispose" and i hate that way of thinking so very happy for you as long as you guys are happy with it. I mean Jessica Simpson did the same and if i would be her bf at the time i would have waited...

By the way... i met my wife when i was 16... we went to the prom together. At the time she was not interrested that much into me... I've "waited" like 13 years ! lol

I dunno man, I can respect that but in that case, marriage would come ALOT sooner than 7 years. I guess it depends on your sex drive. But 7 years beating my meat while I have a gf right next door? wooowwww

Ukrainian 23years old.

Moved to Canada 11 years ago.
Full time student @ Concordia in Mech Engi.
Been with my GF for 5 years and have moved out with her one year ago.

Working as a synchro translator/interpreter @ Cirque Du Soleil (started in 2007) My education has been relatively slow because I was giving a little too much attention towards work and show biz... Went on a couple of trips with the company's shows, worked in NYC for 2 months straight right in the middle of Manhattan (Zarkana show, some of you might have seen it, well I've been with them from ground up). Now the company is on the low (as you may have heard in the news) so I am not as busy and can now work intensively towards my degree.

Lots of experiences with my employer, tons of super fit girls that sleep around left and right, mad parties in fully rented out VIP clubs, mad salary etc etc but 0 stability and take my word for it: show biz wears you out whether you want it or not. I am happy I can now settle down, finish up school and live on in a more civilized/consistent manner.

Oh and I also have a huge passion for cars and racing, love German cars, everything that has to do with racing, touring, European racing history. I own an 04 A4 with some mods and I love it.

Also hobbies include: gymnastics(occasional), photography, travel, electronics.
