I'm typically positive with a proactive mentality, but I think unfortunately the situation in QC is at a tipping point at the moment. If change doesn't happen fast the situation will become beyond repair.
The problem is that there are two classes in QC; the "stay-at-home" class and the working class. In recent years the stay-at-home class have gathered more political power and have elected officials that represent them and ensure that their interests (BS, lower fees, OLF activities, etc) are not only protected, but are promoted.
Unfortunately, from an economic standpoint the stay-at-home class are like a parasite and the working class is the host that the parasite lives off. In nature, a parasite lives off of its host until it kills the host and eventually kills itself too.
Economically speaking you can cushion the effects of the parasite by one of three ways:
1- Borrow (but alas we already have too much debt)
2- Raise taxes (but alas we already have the highest taxes in NA)
3- Reduce spending (but alas we are constantly running a deficit which we can't control)
So what economic lever does the current government have left? Answer: None
That said, the parasite doesn't stop if you tell him that he is about to kill the host and ultimately end his existence too. He is a parasite, that is only capable of consuming, never having to worry about the burden he imposes on his host.
In QC, the parasites have elected the PQ, who will inturn support all forms of parasitic activities until the province succumbs to the only eventual fate awaiting it.
Discussions about the lack of common sense of the OLF are superficial, the real problems are much larger and incomprehensible for the parasite.
