I highly doubt a 2005 A4 is worth $31K.

Maybe your dad has insurance coverage whereby they give you 5% incremental per year based on the purchase price of the vehicle (this applies to used vehicles). Can it be that once the "valeur a neuf" was done your dad took this option and they based it on the expiration date of the valeur a neuf + 5% per year?

Nevertheless, don't ask questions and take the cash.

Makes sence, i know he had some kind of clause like that... and he was paying a bite more than he should for his insurance, but he just said thank you, got the check and starts to shop...

Could it be bcs of 'valeur a neuf' insurance clause when he bought the car? This could be a stoopid comment cuz I'm no insurance guru...

*jawdrop*

Similar thing happened to me years ago when I was hit in my Sunfire, The insurance gave me 8100$ which was way more than I paid for the car and I never knew why but then I saw a report at a later date that said the car had 36000km's but it really had 86000km's, obviously a sloppy hand writing error somewhere along the line.

It might be something similar in your dads case maybe not milage but who knows, take the money once they cut the check it's their mistake.
