City's fault for having a lake sized pothole, your fault for trying to swerve around it at such high speeds on winter tires on wet-ish roads. When you see a potthole too late, DONT SWERVE. Downshift while slamming the brakes (having your car at 6000rpm in 2nd gear will help avoid your brakes locking up the wheels) and take the hit. You might lose a rim but at least you won't crash. There is not a single way to crash your car that would cost less than buying a new wheel. Also the city would pay for a wheel, they won't pay for a flipped car (hitting a potthole doesn't flip a car, trying to avoid it, still hitting it sideways and then hitting the little curb sideways flips a car)
TL;DR- They are responsible for the potthole. You are responsible for your bad reaction to the potthole.
This guy's right, next time rip that E-Brake, then power over, downshift into third, double clutch into 4th, do a kickflip-to-indy and you will be fine. You just had a bad reaction to the "pothole".
