News: Crash in the west island

City's fault for having a lake sized pothole, your fault for trying to swerve around it at such high speeds on winter tires on wet-ish roads. When you see a potthole too late, DONT SWERVE. Downshift while slamming the brakes (having your car at 6000rpm in 2nd gear will help avoid your brakes locking up the wheels) and take the hit. You might lose a rim but at least you won't crash. There is not a single way to crash your car that would cost less than buying a new wheel. Also the city would pay for a wheel, they won't pay for a flipped car (hitting a potthole doesn't flip a car, trying to avoid it, still hitting it sideways and then hitting the little curb sideways flips a car)

TL;DR- They are responsible for the potthole. You are responsible for your bad reaction to the potthole.

This guy's right, next time rip that E-Brake, then power over, downshift into third, double clutch into 4th, do a kickflip-to-indy and you will be fine. You just had a bad reaction to the "pothole".

What a childish response on your part, rather than simply saying you disagree you had to make a sarcastic remark, very sad. In any case I did not say you should do some fast & furious manouver, just slow down, hit the potthole straight on and hope your wheel doesn't break. IF the wheel brakes, the city will pay for it. See how in no outcome is there a loss of a car? Now if you try to swerve yeah you might make it without hitting but you also might flip your car. Do you see how in one of the outcomes the car is wrecked?

Settle for busted wheels, keep your car intact... not to mention yourself. Had this guy been a bit less lucky he might be in the hospital. All this to save what? A simple 4x100 civic rim which are available in abundance and cheap.

Un-sub'd because of troll-fags like diplomat who turn serious issues into sarcastic mockery.

Actually the best thing to do is get off the gas and brakes completely.

ABS and DSC can do weird stuff when you whack a pothole like that, I am just glad you are OK.

You just can't blame the driver. We should not have to tolerate roads like ours.

Glad you're ok and thanks for sharing. I put this on the front page. You can never be too careful in the car.

Wow, glad you are ok. That thing was huge and probably only gave a split second to make a reaction

I imagine it happened super fast but did you get a sense that you were flipping over? I can only imagine what that feels like.

Wow that sucks!

This is why I drive so slow on most roads, especially ones I don't know. It pisses a lot of people off but at least I don't break a wheel or flip my car.

I'm sorry but I agree with kl-ze freak. Potholes don't flip cars. I used to work for PZ8 in montreal, all night long on the spring roads if pothole flipped cars I would have been dead a long time ago with the amount of potholes deeper than this one I've been tru. I've broke wheels, suspention, tires but flipped the car? The fuck?

I think the speed + aquaplanning + bad manoeuvering or bad reaction for the cars abs/stability systems are more to blame here. The car doesn't go flying around when you hit a 3 inch hole lol. Still, I'm not defending the city here, the pothole is freakin disgracious.

Gnaaaa u maaaaad uu maaaaad

Wow that's insane. Glad you're okay.

Can't really blame you even though you might have had a bad reaction. We can't be Loebs 100% of the time. It's true that potholes don't "just flip cars" but to actually flip one because of a pothole is an extremely unlucky combination of factors. Most people wouldn't be able to flip a car even if they tried.

This is 100% quebec's fault. They should supply free rally driving courses to all.

Glad you're safe and you did wear your seatbelt.
I wonder how many MR users really wear one while driving.
For me, i even refuse to drive if the other passenger doesn't wear one.

RIP to your car, hoppefully the insurance will be as generous as the they were for my dad.

All the little bitches on this forum, loving government will put you at fault. But this is the biggest issue with our roads, they are fucked.

There we go. I didn't even have to read. I knew someone would blame you.

Definetly go to the news. You can definetly sue. Its clear that the Ministry of Transport is declaring and deeming our roads safe when they are phyiscally NOT. the evidence is there. Its clear that the SAAQ, and the Qc gov is collecting taxes and fees and not allocating the funds to which they are being charged for and yet we are under this assumption. Roads need to be replaced and not band aid patched. Its really sad, but Quebec has become such a shithole. and whats worse is that the rest of the world sees it that way aswell. Its clearly apparent that the Tri States, Ontario, New Bruns all share the same weather and environmental conditions yet their roads are not falling apart as the ones here. So the environmental excuse that the Ministy of Transport gives, is based on complete bullshit.

Glad your ok, I sincerely hope that it is with cases like this that sets some precidents that conditions as such are unacceptable and provide grounds for reprocussions against the governing bodies that in all due respect, extort the general public.

News: Potholes flip cars... not inexperience or bad reactions.

Glad no one was hurt too badly,

but swerving into a guard rail off a exit that is in a straight line... kinda hard to understand what happened there.

Makes me not want to take out my bike next friday.
