Titanic II: It's going to happen!

I always said I would have loved to be on the titanic!

Us mortals would only be able to afford a passage on 2nd Class or 3rd class. I'd take The Aquatania for a ship from that period but the true golden age was the 20s/30s and for me it would have to be SS Normandie. The Britannic was the largest and was to be the most luxurious "Olympic Class" ship in the White Star Line's fleet but it never entered passenger service. It's amazing how ocean liners were a matter of national pride with mainly France,Italy, Germany and UK trying to out do each other. It's also amazing how the UK has no shipbuilding industry anymore. The last major liner built in the UK was the Queen Elizabeth 2

This is the famous photo of RMS Olympic and RMS Mauretania laid up for scraping

What goes into scraping a ship? Can they reuse anything of it?

The steel is worth a fortune...

there is also Gadani Beach in Pakistan...

It costs too much to scrap ships in Europe or NA simply because of the environmental laws and wages. Although I do believe that the US Navy has to scrap something like 90% of their ships in US breakers

Show looks interesting, gonna watch it at home when I get out of work.

On a related note, thee's a ship moored out front of work that a wrecking company had started tearing apart but the project got stopped because of environmental concerns. It's been sitting there for over a year untouched, half of it is ripped apart, looks pretty retarded, I wonder what they're gonna do with it.

Ok, a cruise on Titanic II could be cool I guess, interesting at least, but wearing period costumes? Fuck that's creepy. I wouldn't want to be on it at night! lol
