Anything by Michael Chrichton
Jurassic Park
The Lost World
The Andromeda Strain

Those are the ones I've read so far by him. A lot of his books are movies, but the books are actually quite different.

The Zombie Survival Guide is a decent read.

I just started reading Bravo Two Zero. It's a little hard to get into though with the UK dialect and huge use of military acronyms, most that you forget 2 minutes later.

MY friend is always going on and on about how good the Bourne series is. Apparently is very different from the movies. It's like two different stories.

I liked reading Robert Ludlum The Matarese Circle; The Bourne series (Much better than the movies) and a couple others most books he wrote became best sellers if you like spies KGB, CIA and secret agencies He is the guy for that. I also enjoyed Chrichton a lot. Also, Dennis Lehane: Gone baby Gone, Shutter Island, Mystic River Moonlight Mile, very very good author
