Hey - just spreading the word about an awesome Portuguese restaurant on the west-island.

A new place called Les 3 Maria just opened on the west-island. I tried it out twice this week and it's pretty damn good and as close to being a Ramados as possible.

They have a small sit-down area but it's mostly take-out (Chicken, Bifana sandwich, Chourico sandwich, etc...). Also, they have a special plate each day like Feijouada!

Prices range from $7.50 to $13.00 for a whole chicken...*tu*

Anyways, if interested, it's at 4886A Boul. Des Sources, D.D.O. Across from Tokyo Sushi in that strip mall.....

Isn't there an Italian restaurant also in MTL called that same name near boul ST-Laurent? Guess they got tired of italian and went portuguese. Will try though.

^ Tried going there last week, was sad when it saw it closed down. Will probably try this place as well to see how it compares

How does it compare to Romados? That place was killer.

They prepare the chicken in the same way but Ramados would spread a spicy sauce on the chicken after it's been roasted... this new place does not but instead they layer it with flavour during the entire roasting process I guess...

So if you consider Ramados a 10/10 then this place is a solid 8/10. If you live on the west-island, it's perfect :D

I went back a few times and tried grilled octopus, a cod and potato dish, a pork and garlic/wine sauce dish, and of course more Bifana sandwiches....

Love it!

just to say, coming from a Portuguese, romados sucks, and so does most the chicken places... granted from the price you are getting a decent meal, but honestly most Portuguese don't go to a resto to eat chicken..

best chicken is home made.

if not you guys want i can name you all the Portuguese restos that are very good for the price...

like PIRI PIRI on Mason and 8th ave. its exactly like romados...

OK... coming from a Portuguese too, Romados does not suck, it's awesome chicken. I agree there's many great Portuguese chicken places in Mtl, Romados also being one of them.

Obviously homemade is always better, there's no denying that, but charcoal chicken is were it's at! What I can't stand is when people say they love Portuguese chicken and say they went to Coco Rico... That's not Portuguese chicken. No charcoal, no Portuguese!
