Bang for the buck summer tires

J'ai du mal à me décider.

dude this is not 'relativement beaucoup de tread left' at all those are done. They would be good for like 3 months. Get them if you can get them down to 40$

I bought a set of General G-Max AS-03 last year and they are fantastic. Quiet and great in the rain. They replaced my Toyo Proxes 4 and I find the Generals superior in every aspect. I'm also expecting them to last a season or two longer than the Toyos. I drove them through some heavy rain storms and they were planted even at highway speeds. Dry grip is also on par with my old Toyos.

I got them at Canadian Tire when they were having a 'buy 3 tires, get 1 free" promotion. Ended up costing around $520, tax in, for 16 inch, and also received a $35 prepaid Mastercard in the mail.

It seems the price for the Generals has gone up this year so you might be better off with the Falkens if you want to save money. I was also considering the Falken ZE-912 last year but the promotion on the Generals was too good to pass up.

Looking for some new tires (235/45R17) ASAP.
I'm on winter Nokian Hakka 7 now and i don't want them to melt with the warmer temps.

But i don't want some super duper performance tire, it's for the TL so it's no sports car.
I want something smooth and durable.

I was looking at the Falken Ziex ZE-912, but if i could find something cheaper than 130$/tire it would be fun.

Thanks people.

Came here to post this

So I post this. Falken Ziex 912. Second summer on them this year, they are great for the price.

I rode on several seasons on Falken Ziex 912 on my previous Mazda6, and for a general all around tire, they're great for the price. I would not go for the FK-452, as they're slightly more performance oriented, and more expensive.

Maxxis MA-Z1

was in the same dilemma as you before for summer tires and with all the search and stuff, i came up with the falken ziex 912 too and never regret my purchase. best bang for the buck, looks good and is made in japan not some cheap china made tires.

sumitomo htrz 3, cheap and surprisingly good.

That's what I'm picking up this year, a great Japanese tire with great reviews online! The Porsche forums seem to be raving aboutthe HTRZ 3!

I had the HTRZ 2 and they were pretty good too.

I have them on my volvo, and they grp well, I've done lapping with them too, they work well. For the price they are almost amazing, even the road noise is reasonable.

Awesome, then you will be able to answer my biggest question, do they have a flange guard aka wheel guard to protect the rim from curb rash? I haven`t been able to find that information online!

Hard to beat Continental ExtremeContact DW's on tirerack in OP's size for 119$ + tax and shipping.

IMO they're a little more expensive than some of the tires posted here, but as an all-rounder, best bang for the buck.

Are the Falkens Ziex 912 quiet? hows the ride? I found them on 1010 tires for 142$ for 225/40/18.. wonder if they could be cheaper elsewhere?!?!

just don't get Nitto's, don't perform as well as reviewed by many by a longshot, and their customer service is well... non existent.

The Falken PT-722 and the new 453 are both amazing and hard to beat for the price. I ran the PT-722 for 2 summers and they still look like they have 80% tread left. Good grip and very predictable in the dry and the rain.
