We have good gun laws in Canada, not perfect, but good. What we desperatly need more of is help for the mentally ill.

We're having more and more problems with mentally messed up people, it's crazy (duh). They're letting psychos out of hospitals 'cuz they don't have the funds to support them, but then they stop taking their pills and start causing trouble everywhere...

Also, guns, like I've explained to you, are very easy to obtain through illicit means. So before tightening the grip on hunters/sport shooters and law abiding gun owners, maybe we can look at those illicit means.

So od in a perfect world we should all have access to TANKS bazoka and .50 snipers??? and for our protection every one should at LEAST have 1 one in order to keep the strenght of both parties equal? hey after that If the folk I can't stand across the street gets a nuke ... I should get one or two to protect myself?

and when the shotgun will not be enough what will it be ? in a world where in 5-10 years from now wars will be played with chemical weapon what will a shotgun do against someone nailing your house with some gaz nade?! now you will need a sniper to shoot them up from far away?! We don't live in a perfect world you are totaly right, I live in a world where HUMANS do mistake and stupid thing. Power comes with responsability and ANYONE should not have the means of killing hundreds just beacuse. A mistake with a knife VS a mistake with a full auto weapon with a full mag usualy don't lead to the same consequences. Hence in a world where humans arent perfect some things should be controlled and limited.
I'm bringing that comparation into debate since you are again avoiding the debate by talking about ''common sense'' (vague again)

The only real issue I see here is the debate on whether assault weapons should be permitted. I'm definitely against it because it allows a maniac to easily kill 100 people with the pull of a trigger. Hand guns on the other hand, should be permitted and allowed/encouraged for everyone to own.
The guy who did this wasn't crazy or mentally ill. He was a regular joe who went to work and paid taxes and then his wife cheated on him. He felt anger, jealousy & humiliation which are all normal human emotions when faced with such an event. Had he not had a gun, he would have simply stabbed the guy to death. Had he not had a knife, he would have choked the guy to death or beat him with a rock or baseball bat.
The strength of both parties will never be equal. At the lowest level, we are all built differently. Some guys are 6'2 250lbs while others are 5'5 170lbs. Who do you think is gonna win in a fight (assuming no weapons are available) ?

Thats my point 1 man with no weapon CANNOT go on a murder spree in a society ... Id rather have 1 guy kill someone and then being stopped by 2 than 1 guy shooting 100 people and be stopped by one other guy with another gun

So ? Everybody reacts differently. You can't expect no reaction when you really fuck someone over. The size of the reaction will depend on the individual and what was done to him.
So we agree. Handguns are ok but mass assault weapons should be banned.

Registre ou pas, ban des armes ou pas, quelqu'un qui veut vraiment tuer va toujours trouver un moyen..
Ca aurait changé quoi que le shotgun fasse parti du registre? Le gars aurait probablement pu en avoir un quand meme. Au pire un autre calibre. Au pire une arme volée.
Des armes a feu il va toujours en avoir.. Autant que des couteaux, des armes faites a la main, etc
