There's a quite a stir in the media about this. RBC who has been making annual record profit 7.5 BILLIONS and yet they are willing to outsource jobs for more profits.

My friends and family will be closing our RBC accounts. I hope you all will do the same to help protect the future Canadian jobs.

"The workers also said they were not offered jobs with iGATE and were told this "realignment" might expand to affect more of the bank’s 57,500 employees in Canada.

“We were told this is almost like a pilot project,” the unnamed employee said. "

Let me guess, Chinese foreign workers?

Probably India

EDIT: Yup, exactly

“They are being brought in from India, and I am wondering how they got work visas,” said Dave Moreau, one of the employees affected by the move. “The new people are in our offices and we are training them to do our jobs. That adds insult to injury.”

I really don't see what's wrong with this - I think all companies should outsource more. It makes everything cheaper.

These employees were probably let go because they were under performing.

So why not replace them by other CANADIAN workers?
This is bullshit anyway.. nothing will be cheaper lol it's a fucking bank

Because Canadian workers are more expensive.

Maybe.. But it increase stability of the banking infrastructure by reducing fixed costs. Support teams for several large companies are already located overseas.. It's been happening for years - nothing new.

Think about becoming a shareholder, dividends just went up

*td*

just posted this on my FB with this...

This blew my mind, are we now going to import people to work for less? At what point does this will end, when the whole country is unemployed?

You didnt read a single word of the article eh?
They're bringing the workers from India in Canada.. This is not your typical Bell callcenter kind of thing..

You're misunderstanding what is happening. RBC is bringing foreign workers temporarily to ultimately get the work done outside of Canada. This is part of a training process that takes place with most large outsourcing operations.

RBC spokesperson Rina Cortese told Go Public several foreign workers from iGATE will be working in the bank’s Toronto offices until 2015. By then, she said, most of the work will be transferred abroad, but a few of the foreigners will remain indefinitely.

They'll be here for at least 2 years.. Some will stay.. And government is pissed, let's wait and see

The Royal Bank of Canada is denying reports it has hired temporary foreign workers to do the jobs of some of its employees.

"Contrary to allegations, RBC has not hired temporary foreign workers to take over the job functions of current RBC employees," the bank said in a statement Sunday. "Like most businesses, RBC works with many suppliers to provide certain products and services in Canada and globally."

In the press release, RBC identifies Fremont, Calif.-based iGATE Corp. as one of its suppliers.

On its website, iGATE says its "strategic outsourcing solutions have helped organizations worldwide to reduce cost and scale up operations while focusing on their core competency."

While RBC maintains it is not replacing Canadian workers, Zabeen Hirji, the bank's chief human resources officer, said in the statement that "we continue to remain focused on assisting our employees through this transition. We are working diligently to find suitable roles for those affected and it is our hope over the next few months to transition them to other positions."

On Sunday, one of Canada's largest unions slammed the government's Temporary Foreign Worker Program after CBC News reported that dozens of employees at RBC are losing their jobs to temporary foreign workers.

"The news that RBC is replacing 45 of its employees with workers from India is just further proof that corporations and the Harper government intend to use the Temporary Foreign Worker Program to lower wages across Canada," Ken Neumann, national director of the United Steelworkers (USW), said in a statement.

"We are ready to assist the RBC workers and represent them in any legal matters and hope they will contact us."

The USW said using temporary workers undermines Canadian wages and living standards "while making workers from abroad subject to abuse."

Human Resources Minister Diane Finley said that since Canada is experiencing significant skills and labour shortages in many regions, "Canadians must always be the first in line for opportunities from employers who are hiring."

She called the allegations against RBC unacceptable.

Finley said in a statement the Temporary Foreign Worker Program was never intended as a means to bring in temporary foreign workers to replace employed Canadian workers.

RBC did not return QMI Agency's call.

Bien hate de voir ce qui va se passer avec ça

When the whole world has been equalized. Aka, when a worker in India has the same salary as one in Canada. Granted, for that to happen, their salaries must go up while yours must come down. It's redistribution of wealth my friend.

I mean, why should there be rich ppl and poor ppl ? No more I say!

people will send a message to RBC with their money. too bad that most people are too comfortable and they will not move their account to another bank, they will only complain as usual with no action

I'll look into getting a savings account with another bank and CC if they don't have stupid rules that will rob my account one way or another. Right now it cost me nothing to be with RBC so I want the same at another bank.

Sounds like a plan. Prevent job losses by moving your business elsewhere and causing job losses.

It's about sending a message to these capitalist clowns. We as Canadians will not tolerate this stance. If other banks sees that rbc is losing customers over bad pr, they'll wont be so quick to follow rbc footsteps.

Capitalism is the reason you have a computer.

If you don't tolerate this stance, I sure as hell hope you don't own anything made in China. Wake up, outsourcing has been increasing consistently over the past decades and the unemployment rate has not increased consequently. This is EXACTLY the same thing. Those 'foreigners' are not even RBC employees, they work for a supplier.

This just shows how the media manipulates information and the mostly uneducated proletariat runs around like a chicken with no head.

If RBC made so much profit last year, they should really throw some out the window and become less efficient.

The stupidity of someone people never ceases to amaze me. Were it for these socialists we would all still be farming the land manually, ignoring technological advances, because NO JOB MUST EVER DISAPPEAR!!!! Your shitty way of life must be mumified & preserved for all eternity so that you don't rake your brain about what you'll do tomorrow. Jeezus.

Disappearing jobs means that YOU have the opportunity to do something new. Nobody knows what it is yet, but how about you use your brain and figure it out ? You want to be paid more than those Indians you seem to despise so much ? Then prove that you are worth your salary and not just drawing breath for no reason.

Firing Canadians that own houses and feed children to bring in more Indians to replace them....
And some of u think that's cool?
Hard working Canadians getting tossed aside to simply make more profit?!!!

It's one thing when a job is up for grabs and te best qualified person gets the job and its another thing when u hire a person that's simply willing to work for less.
I wish it was u faggots that got fired so some Indian can be brought in to take ur job cause he works for less.
Then it'll be u who loses ur house, car etc..

I bet u won't like "capitalism" after that.

My rbc acct is being closed tmr and ill make sure to tell the bank why I'm pulling the assets I have with them out.

Government should fkn intervene but oh no wait a sec , out governments control the banks in this country.

Fkn horseshit

No actually it will give the other banks that employ hard working Canadians more business and in turn they will hire more hard working Canadians to keep up with the load.

Uh duh !
