Fishing Thread De Pêche

r u guys in for sturgeon?...i know a few places ..last year i caught a 37 lbs..on riviere de prairies..

Shit you guys get the nice stufff... My bestest catch is probably a foot long pike in a filled dump site... and 20 bluegills, which are in my 200 gal fish tank since I killed everything I had when I moved :(

Hey Rebel! I've fished not too far from the spot you said.. but more near 46' avenue.. Caught 4-5 (15-20 pound) channel cats and a few large mouths which were fun to catch.

I did hook a Sturgeon which ended up snapping my 20 pound proline :(

If you don't mind.. what did you use as bait for the Sturgeon? Worm harness?

I think i'll hit the water next weekend.. hopefully a lot of the ice will be melted. Last week of April/first two weeks of May will be phenomenal for Walleye!

Also guys, the last week of May, first week of June.. there is a fish from the Ocean which comes up to the RDP river all the way to the PieX dam to lay eggs, than rush back. The fish is called American Shad or Alose in french... Plenty of good action to come!

I met a guy last year that talked about that fish...He told me to go fishing there when the first dandelion come out...

Yup.. thousands of American Shad make their way up.
Only quibble is that you have to use "shad darts", but guys sell 'em plenty near the shore for a buck a peice, or 6 for 5 etc... But they work =)

what i bought

i'm going out today and try my luck

i went to my usual spot, this guy came to tell me nicely that i can;t fish there at this time of the year... i went further away and 2 "proctection de la faune" came to check my permit. they were nice and explained to me what was open and what was closed.
needless to day, i fucked off even if they didn't kick me out

Pike May 5th, Walleye May 14th open season ... but we're still allowed to fish for Catfish, Drum, sunfish etc...

Which area was this?? A little suspect why you can't fish at that particular place... rules from my knowledge are only catching fish off season.

Its not uncommon to see many game wardens out there now checking for permits because most fish are in spawning mode... easy to catch 'em because they bite out of protection... but can disrupt their spawn process.

If I get stopped by a agent de la faune, i'm gonna tell 'em i'm fishing for catfish lol

just plain worms...the problem is, it snapped my 30 lbs braid...i use 40 lbs now...it's not only the fish is strong..but u need to cast very far,...in the current..a lot of rocks and it's hard to bring it back..i have a 9 feet rod..and a 12 feet..( 12 feet is for big carpes)..
