After the due date it will take another 30 days to go to a bailiff(Usually that dick wad Paquette that operates from 511 Place D'armes since he bids the highest for debt). Once it goes there the fine magically goes up by 30% and bailiff fees are added. So that 250$ ticket now costs 600$. Original fine 250$ + City interest+ Bailiff Fees...



It's been this way since about 2004/2005 when it was discovered that putting people in jail for 1000$ fines cost wayyyyyy too much money. Actually in most cases you'd get arrested, appear before a judge and get weekend sentences... You would have to show up by 7 pm on Friday. Well in most cases the jail was already full by 5pm Friday and because you showed up at 6ish you "signed" in and went home..

Next Gregster will tell you the tale of how they tried to put a clamp on his car and then led parking enforcement on a 3 hour tour de ville involving 4 "Boot enforcement" vans

I got a hefty parking ticket a few months ago and guess what? I did get 2 notices like usual in the mail and me being me let it slide figuring meh... A couple weeks ago I got the famous "Writ of Seizure" letter dated for payment by March 28th 2013 or suspended license... Needless to say I went to pay the ticket in full Now it is my opinion that you had a suspended license because if the letter was dated for March 28th 2013 and payment wasn't received by then the "Ping" was sent to the SAAQ which would take 48hours to process the "Seizure".. so 2 business days would bring us to Tuesday April 2nd 2013.... The city wants to make interest money off you for a few months so that's why notices are mailed out before an actual license suspension takes place

Actually here is a photo of said letter and some other stuff I decided to add..

Notice what it says top right of photo and center... Minus the 402$...

As bad as Montreal is they are pretty good and some what good to deal with when it comes to tickets. Ie make arrangements and letting you know what's up. As I said before the ticket system is a fine art in Montreal. I've been dealing with them since you were still sailing on the boat to Canada.
