Heading down there for a couple of days work and figured I'd stay four more days to explore the city, heard nothing but good things about Chicago. Tell me what to do OT, srs Costa Rica thread from last month had some great tips, figured I would try again.

I spent a few days there last year. I loved it, one of my favorite cities.

Giordano's Pizza is a Must for their stuffed pizza
Uno Pizza for awesome Pan Pizza
Chicago hot dogs!!! Portillo's was pretty good!

The Pier is nice to visit at night and offers a beautiful skyline of the city. There's a small amusement park and several boats offering little cruises. Oh and there are a few bars and I believe a movie theater.
The beach downtown near the Pier is nice.
Rent a bike, they have bike paths everywhere
Take the exterior subway
Ride up the old Sears Tower
Go wet your feet in Millennium Park

Oh and you could always go walk the magnificent mile, it's a street with a lot of high end stores. It's very crowded. We thought it was a bit useless though unless you wanna buy a $30 bag of chocolate or a $5000 watch.

You can get the city pass which gives you 5 attractions (Shedd Aquarium, Skydeck Chicago on top the Sears Tower, Field Museum, Museum of Science and Industry or John Hancock Observatory, Adler Planetarium or Chicago Art Institute.
Personnally, we chose the Shedd Aquarium, the skydeck, the museum of science and industry and the planetarium. If you're into Art, the Art Institute has a good reputation I think.
We didnt choose the John Hancock because we thought it would ressemble to the Sears Tower, and you can get up the observatory by going to the bar up there (with purchase of a drink, which costs around 15$).

As Ti Pit said, Millenium Park is pretty cool for a walk. Close to it, go check out the Cloud Gate (The big bean) and the scene is great for pics. Also, close by, there are the water fountains with the faces.
I think there is also the Chicago Zoo close too, it's free!
Magnificent Mile is like the Fifth Avenue of NYC, but in less fancy.

The Chicago Harbour (pier) is nice as well, this is where they shot some scenes of Transformers.

To fully understand the richness of the architecture, get a guided boat tour on the Chicago river. Since the river is in the middle of the city, you get to see a lot of the buildings. The guides are very friendly and explained well the history of the city.
Also, close to the Chicago river is Wacker Drive. At night, it's freakin' amazing with all the lights of the buildings. You get to see the variety of architectural masterpieces. And it's the street where a lot of the Batmobiles scenes were shot.

Last but not least, if you can see a baseball game at the Wrigley Field, it's always nice! Dunno if the season started though.

As for the Deep-Dish Pizza, we ate ours in Uno Pizzeria. It was worth the 30 min wait.

Have fun! I really enjoyed the city! :)

PS: Although the % of crime is high in Chicago, I found the people really nice vs. NYC.

I think Anthony Boudain did a show there for The Layover. Should give you some info on places to go eat

Food is great in Chicago. Great steakhouses, Italian food, etc... Deep dish, you have Uno's, Lou Malniati's (which personally I prefer over Uno) and others. Off the beaten path, you have Francesca's on Chestnut which is a nice unpretentious Italian restaurant and the price is reasonable.

If the Cubs are in town don't miss a game at Wrigley Field. The architecture of the City is beautiful, Millenium Park and the Stadium where the Bears play is really nice. They built the new stadium on top of old Soldier Field keeping the architecture. The museum is also a good bet. Don't miss the House of Blues, there is great Blues music in Chicago and you should ask the locals where are the best bets for the time you are there.

It is a great City to walk, you will not be disappointed. For your sake I hope it is sunny and not too windy...

go to the polish section of the town great F***ing food and if ur into museums check em out great places when i was there

Get in touch with Steve from Steve's Segway tours. Great experience and lots of fun. I've done it twice now. Once last summer with my gf and her mom and once 5 years ago with my work when I lived there.

Giordanos is great for pizza. Chipotle is great for burritos. Brazazz is amazing for Brazilian steaks.

Try the architectural boat tour as well. It's a lot of great info about the skyline.

Was there last summer as well.

Did the following and would recommend:

Giordano's
Portillo's
Magnificent Mile
Shedd Aquarium
Field Museum
Architect Chicago River Cruise (I liked this the most, really showed off the unique architecture and history of buildings in Chicago)

Another cool bar/resto we checked out was called Gilt Bar. Unique drinks with a shit ton of alcohol in them and they had the best mashed potatoes I've had in my life.
They have this neat bar in the basement as well with a very old school vibe.
Might look hipster-ish but give it a shot.

Also went to an Irish pub called Fado that has a crazy lunch special including a burger/sandwich + fries and a pint for like $9-10 lol

Wear comfy shoes lol
I got blisters, but I blame myself for never wearing socks

Also I regret not partying more, the bitches there are fine

Thanks for the tips guys! Did alot of the suggestions and had a great time, it was cold, windy and raining alot of the time, but it didn't keep us from exploring the city:
