As I would have expected, it seems a though emotions are pretty mixed between BMW dealers.
BMW West-Island, I felt was run by a group of amateurs. - same goes for Mercedes-Benz on St-Jean... but I digress.
All this started about 2 months ago. -
1) Feb. 27 get a call from Canbec asking me to bring the car in for a battery cable manufacture recall on March 5th. I know my yearly maintenance is around this time, so I ask the lady if we can do that too, as we can "kill two birds with one stone" her reply: well your included maintenance is only free of charge as of the 18th of March since that's the day to a year that you had your last servicing. If you want to have it done earlier, it will be at your expense. - I therefore refrain from blasting her over the phone for the lack of common sense, bad business practice, not to mention client facing skills. and I ask: well is the battery recall issue an urgent fix? or can it wait, apparently it could wait, so I scheduled the appointment for March 25th. - I asked politely if I could have a loaner for the day. (as it is a 3hour job) really 20mins, but the dealer will dealer, so 3hours. - she says yes but we are going to charge you 23$/day. - (never had to pay for a loaner from Canbec) so I thought nothing of it and hung-up.
2) March 25th show-up 7:30am- explain my issues to my service advisor: "battery recall" "scheduled maintenance" & "squeaking sound from steering" - tried out the steering for himself, says thats normal. I say: no, when I bought the car new from you guys 2 years ago it didn't make that sound.- he says OK, we'll check it out.- all the work will be done by the end of the day. - as im walking out, he ask me if I want them to check the brakes as the key fob scan says that they need to be checked for wear. - I say fine, check them as I walk away.
3) March 25th, around 4pm- no call from Canbec. I call them and leave a message with my advisor.
4) March 26th around 2 pm still no news from Canbec. I call back - my advisor left for the day. - spoke to someone else who was simply reading the job order written up for my car and told me that they are ordering a new power steering pump. the car should be ready tomorrow.
5) March 27th I call in during the morning. Finally get to speak to my advisor, he says that I need new rear brakes disc + pads (the car has 38K, I don't drive that hard) -(see picture) i declined and he told me that they got the power steering pump and that it was going to be changed today. car will be ready this evening.
March 27 5pm- I once again call back - advisor is gone, I speak to the service dept. they says the car is not ready, but probably tomorrow
March 28th- I go pick up the car in the evening-(3 days delayed) realize someone hit the curb while probably moving the car around the lot tore in my tire and slightly curbed the mag. I was on my winters so I couldn't careless about the mag, BUT was pretty pissed about the tire. (see picture) bill for the work done 86$ and change- 20$ odd for the loaner and 60$ to check the rear brakes. - need less to say I left pissed.
April 1st drop off the damaged wheel and tire to the Service manager- he was not in that day. 2 voice messages and almost 3 weeks later -(today april 17th) not a word from Canbec.
Moral of the story: you want after sales service do NOT go to CANBEC BMW -
nb: just yesterday my oil light came on: the indicator says that I am low 1L of oil..... they supposedly changed the oil 3 weeks ago. Oil light has never gone on before in my car. - Apparently they don't know how to top off oil either.
nb2: notice how I was the one that was chasing them for answers- of the 3 days delays it took to get my car, not one apology for the lateness.
nb3: the car was initially brought in for a recall- YOU inconvenienced me - and you want to charge me for a loaner!??! fuck you.
brakes look good to me:
tire torn in two spots + curb on the rim;
