My mom has an VW Eos and 5 weeks ago, while it was parked downtown in broad daylight, someone tried to rip open the hardtop of the car resulting in it being unaligned and a lot of deep scratches on the paint. She brought it to the VW dealer to get it fixed and they said they would have to replace the hardtop and repaint some of the panels of the car.
At first there were some delays because of missing parts and the fact that this is the first time they had to deal with this type of repair. Everytime she would go in to the dealer no one would be working on her car. The only time there were people working on the car was after she bypassed the service manager and made a complain with the owner of the VW dealer. Also every time she calls or goes in the service manager gives her an excuse as to why its' not ready.
On Monday of last week they said they all they have left to do is do the paint and the car should be ready in a couple days. A week and a half later and they are still not done with the car. So as of today its been 5 weeks that the dealer has the car.
I, as well as my mother never had to deal with a dealer for bodyshop repair, but is it normal that it is taking this long?
What exactly can she to do speed up the repair? Would a complain to VW Canada do anything?
She is started to get worried as her 30 days of a rental car from her insurance is about to end (or has already ended yesterday or today).
