And that is why I will break my engine in outside of the garage, which in my case, is a barn with a wood floor and plenty of hay laying around. It's so awesome it looks like a movie set but the thing could burst up in flames quickly. I never weld inside, never smoke, never do anything that sparks anywhere near it.
Idiot or not, sometimes shit happens and you never know. I also learn as I go, I'm super careful most of the time but when it's midnight and I've had a couple beers, I tend to get tired and act like a newbie sometimes. Working long hours and finally getting something done and near completion gives me an adrenaline rush just looking at it. It makes me overlook security sometimes.
I almost shot a spring through the wall last year. If I hadn't strapped the living shit out of everything, I would've got it straight in the chest. The mark on the floor is still there, and it's a great reminder that your favorite object in the world could also kill you.
