Hey MR,
After reading that article on more ticket for bicycles i just f'ing lost it. Time and time again I hear the same bullshit that more taxation is needed on people traveling for the sake of improved safety. That statement is so foul a it makes a 3 month old rotting body in 40C weather seem like a breath of fresh air. Fact of the matter is the police have become a tool to separate you from your hard earned money because these politicians can't spend money properly. To add to this 3%'s are being packed into suitcases and rolled off while they find ways to increase it to 4%.
In complacency or in some cases severe government brown-noising we've allowed this ticket spree cash grab to become an acceptable norm to help them mask their financial incompetance and buy their yachts and they've gone so far as brain washing a few to sing the praises of this wolf in a sheep's skin taxation.
Seeing as this is the primary community that's targeted with these draconian methods it'd be of interest to maybe start a cause. "If it's not about the money". If it's really not about the money then quite simply we should propose that the amounts for all tickets remain the same however the fine portion goes to charities such as SunYouth, Salvation Army, CentreAide, etc. Some of these organization are grossly underfunded and this extra money would go a long way.
Now before you go screaming hippy, it's also strategic. Image wise it's puts politicians in a checkmate. If what they say is true, that money is not the reason for traffic tickets, then feeding/clothing lil' Johny is an excellent way of spending those fines. If they back track they're sham falls apart and people publicly see ticket for what they are, theft. Better yet it goes to nonprofit organizations which will not be taxed further keeping that money away from the scumbags.
To keep things fair those "donations" would not be tax deductible and only well known and established charities could receive the proceeds to avoid some shady practices.
Drivers with the driving skill of a trained monkey get their license, we allow repeat drunk driving offenders to liberally retake to the roads, our road network design is just short of being a demolition derby figure 8 all while looking like the surface of the moon and worst of all we have ego's the size of Jupiter rolling around whether it's camping in the left lane at 100, not leaving space to merge, tailgating in traffic or simply driving beyond the conditions of the road/weather and driving ability because the belief that they're M. Schumacker with they're 15 year old car on bald summer tires in snow.
These my friends account for most of the accidents we have on our roads. Don't let them just steal your money, let's get together and start educating people about the reality and find ways to combat this rigged system.
