All you really need is a way to fire your flash off-camera for now. Afterwards, light-modifiers will come into play. That depends on:

1 - your budget
2 - your preference

Same question but for architecture ? I've been geared for studio for a while but sold everything and now I get randomly ask to shoot houses or design projects.
Would you consider a TSE 17 or 24 ? What portable flash would you use ? I've had the Paul C Buff transmitter receiver, but what about the one from Canon ?

I will look forward for a 5dMK3 also, I think boily has one to sale.

Any input would be great

Never tried the 17mm TSE, but I got the 24mm and on a full frame sensor it's just perfect

Portable flash for house shooting I'd go for a couple of Vivitar 285HV, they are really cheap (~60$ used) and don't take much space.. sometime you are shooting in small rooms and you want to drop the flash on furniture instead of having a large flash that needs external power + a big tripod

For triggering the flash, I personally like the iShoot sold on ebay, the receivers have the hot shoe + jack for big flashes.. I got 5 receivers I can plug my LightRain flashes and use the portable flashes at the same time (Speedlight + Vivitar)

Let's say I have to buy ONE lens, and will be doing both inside and outside shots ?

I currently have a 24-70 2.8 and 50 1.4.

What flash you prefer ?

edit: didn't see mox's post. Thanks for the input

For real estate inside shots you absolutely need a super wide angle (16 or 17mm).

I do all my outside shots with the 24-70 or 45ts and correct the distortion in post.

Whats amazing with the 17tse is that it doesnt need correction in post.

like DJ said if you have the money, the 17TS is something near the perfect wide-angle lens. Expensive, but for a superwide indoor, outdoor, it would probably be this one. In any cases, if you want to shoot architecture, get a tilt-shift. I also like the Zeiss 21mm F2.8 but more for landscape.

like everybody say, depends on your budget. If you have the budget for a studio flash kit, Bang for the buck, Elinchrom D-Lite 4 would be the best imo. (around 900$ for a full kit) if you have less, consider speedlight flashes.

as for camera and lens, 50mm with crop sensor or 50, 85 with full frame is a good start.

My budget is around 800-900 but i wonder if it might be better that i just start with a speedlight (was thinking a 430ex ii). I currently have a 7D with a 50mm 1.4
