According to Nissan officials, the basics have been determined, and research is already under way. The two paths the R36 could take are: A more advanced version of the current GT-R; and the other is to build a completely new European-style, luxury GT-R.

The design of the R35 GT-R expresses heft and aggressiveness. Taking that image further would likely mean a move toward a race car image. The other design would likely be in the mold of the Emerge or Infiniti Essence. Elegant styling would be a major feature. However, the Emerge and Essence are reminiscent of Jaguar. It’s a cool look, but the market would likely say that they’ve already seen the design somewhere else, and the model would lose its originality and its Japanese image.

If the new GT-R does indeed make its way into the Infiniti brand, the design would have to be a breakthrough image leader as Infiniti seeks success in Europe. Assuming the accuracy of rumors, we can say the next GT-R would have a slightly larger body, with a width of about 75 in. and a lower overall height of about 53 in. There would also be a power-assist electric motor, to achieve a total power output of 550 hp. In this case, we can expect a fuel consumption improvement of more than 30 percent compared to the current model.

No. Just no.
GT-R should remain on the Nissan lineup. Infiniti can keep their IPL lineup but shouldnt mess with the GT-R.

Or; release two versions of the same chassis, much like the past and current Z and G.

Have the Nissan GT-R a race-bred, cut off of the useless luxurious gimmicks and shit, hell, make it a 2-seater, and on the other hand, have the Infiniti version, call it a QR, have it filled with every auto door opener / auto-mirror adjusting / massaging seats / granny-helper systems and sell it as that, a bloated, luxurious and overpriced version of a real car if they really think people would go for that.

In any case, if they can reduce the size of the R35 and build upon what they already have, it can only mean a better car.

You forgot something for the man version of your GTR.

I didn't really forget it, I just thought it was a given that the manual transmission should be back in the manly version, but yeah, they should definitely do that.

This.

I sometimes wonder if there's a market for a 100% performance oriented car like that though. (If I had the money) I would definitely rock a 2 seater with manual windows, no A/C, no frills and all that kind of stuff.

Regardless, I hope the R36 looks better than the one in the OP. Those mags and that billet grille =

It honestly wouldn't be bad to see the GT-R go the path of the European exterior styling (ex: a la Aston Martin) but keep that Japanese feel when it comes to the mechanic aspect of the car. Japanese sports cars have always been really user friendly when compared to the competition.

J'espère que l'image c'est un prototype très éloigné du produit final ......... pi les roues.. ouache
