Driving the 887hp Porsche 918 Spyder - CHRIS HARRIS ON CARS

Mixed emotions.... Harris' comments in the 1st 4-5mins of the presentation are exactly what I've been telling myself about this car... Still kudos to Porsche for letting this unfinished project be tested for the journalistic world to share!

IMO they are doing this only to create a hype about their car, so they secure their sales BEFORE the McLaren and Ferrari's take over.

I'm a Porsche fanboy but this, gives me mixed emotions.

Agreed 110%... The engineer had a very valid argument as well regarding sales of the 918... I have no difficulty believing that all 918 units will be sold before they hit the showroom floor.... The hype for this car was well thought out...

There's nothing to secure. Porsche is doing this for the image not for the profit.
At 845k/car and only 918 sold worldwide we are talking about $775 710 000.
Do you think all this project cost only this little?
At all.
They are loosing money with this project and they knew it before they started, but it's all about image.

All I'm saying is they hyped the car like it would be THE SHIT and it infact will turn out to be THE small poop.
 
when they first announced the car, i though it was really cool and looked great, but after seeing the P1, this looks like a very dated carrera gt at best
