Lots of engine problems lately, an engine blowing up isnt rare on MD88s but every Captain ive talked to say they have no problems running on one engine.

Delta has 120 or so in the active fleet. The oldest 88s will be replaced with the 712s and they will also replace the dc-95s. Delta plans on flying the md-88s for another 10-12 years.. I bet the md95s and 717s will be in service for another 20 years

Sometimes when the engine explodes it sends fragments into the passenger cabin cutting people's heads off

I've sat in the last row on one and it was interesting ... Still an F28 is 1000x worse

I love the 5 abreast layout and I trust a 25 year old maddog over a 6 year old corrosion can jungle jet

I lost a picture I took in the 80s when the AN-225 Mriya came to Quebec City Air Show.

It was parked right along side a C-5 Galaxy. The Galaxy looked like a baby plane, I kid you not.

An-225 is an awesome plane, but with a typical Soviet fit and finish that would make a Yugo proud. Compared to it, the Galaxy looked like a polished jewel.

when I used to work for Cafas few years back, I often saw ground crew loading dc9s, md80s and Fokker 100's, they used to put dogs and cats in the cargo holds, always felt bad for the poor animals on take off considering the noise. Most were retrofitted with hush-kits but it was still insane loud.

Smaller aircraft than what you guys are talking about, but here is the first of 6 brand new Cessna Grand Caravan EX aircraft that we took delivery of last week. Right now it's in Rome being ferried to Nairobi NBO where it will be used on our humanitarian missions throughout Africa!

That's right, we purchased a Q400, due to be delivered in late June early July (out of curiosity, how did you hear about this news?). All of our aircraft are constantly changing routes depending on the contract, but at the moment our RJ is in Nairobi doing a Somalia, Kenya, Sudan route.

There are a couple companies working on cargo conversions for RJs. 50-70 seat RJ are worthless these days. One company already has 10-15 orders ....
