Parking Ticket less than 5m from Intersection

So I just got a ticket for parking less than 5m from an intersection in downtown. It was on rue fort at the intersection of sherbrooke. What I don't understand is that I've been parking there for 2 years and never gotten a ticket. When I'm not parked there there's another car instead and I've never seen anyone get a ticket for parking there. Suddenly today I get one. Is this contestable? Also, on the intersection, there is the little valley on the crosswalk for weelchairs, etc, and I am NOT blocking it so I am still a good ~3 feet before the end of the road.

Yeah I understand I'm not 5m away but I mean its downtown, is there a single car thats 5m away from the intersection or even a fire hydrant for that matter?

It looks like the city has been cracking down on free parking spots. In front on my work there is 1 free parking spot, no hydrant, no meter, just enough curb to fit 1 car. We have been fighting for this spot for years, its almost a running gag at work ''oh i see you're the lucky bitch with the VIP parking this morning, etc''. In the past month they have been ticketing that spot, for no reason. The guy writes down ''parked in an invalid parking spot''. But we don't know why its invalid. Also, its a police officer who'se giving the ticket, not a little green man. Everyone is afraid to park there now! Its free almost everymorning.

So really there's nothing that makes it invalid? It's just a "blind spot" where there is so sign or meter and the city is pissed that people are using that to park for free. I guess they don't want people parking for free anymore, they need their money. This is stupid. I also saw someone get a ticket at another similar spot were I used to park and never gotten one before. Same reason, parked 5m from the intersection. That spot has always had a car there for the past 2 years and I've parked there many times too.

At least on my ticket it states a reason, the one for your spot seems like it actually is a valid spot but they don't want it to be. I bet yours is contestable.

If there was line on the ground for a parking or if the first parking is closer than 5 m then you can fight it

Not having a ticket before is not really a valid legal reason

But this is the best reason to leave this city , i was born in Mtl , so glad
