2013 ASELC Time Attack Championship

I'm ok with your point of view. What would you recommend then to get less people discouraged into running with us with their street car. You know, the one that can fill up with gas at Shell, pass a SAAQ inspection with no issue, drive 4 seasons if need be, bring you to work without breaking your spine... That car!

Don't get me wrong, the competition is awesome right now in the street class, but realisticly speaking, unless you have a really expensive exotic car or a Z06 'vette, your 4-season full-interior car with off-the-shelf koni's will not compete with top runners. That's just the way we built the rules.

As I said earlier, I don't mind leaving it like that if people think it's better for the sport.

Should we create a 'new' class, just like the Redline Time Attack folks did? An enthusiast class for REAL street cars with no crazy modifications? After-all, we inspired ourselves off their rules, maybe it's time we learn from their mistakes too?

I think to keep the world balanced we should just ban hondastreet... :p
hihi it's juste a timed lap, you and many others are better driver then me. take my car, you can pass me

So what IS a street car? There are plenty of different views.
A car with an upgraded turbo or a forced induction kit is not a street car? But one rocking a normally aspirated 10,000rpm race gas grenade is?
So someone can add 100hp to his already 300hp turbo car but someone adding a 100hp aftermarket kit to his 150-200hp car gets bumped into Mod?
Is a car with pimpy 3-way remote reservoir shocks, 1200lbs+ springs and 1.5" thick swaybars really a street car?
This is the kind of discussions and a 576 page rule book we will end up with and the slippery slope i was referring to...
So anyways, what about the other classes?
"Mod class is for ________" ???
"Race class is for _________" ???
If you want to move away from classing cars based on tires/wheels driven then define a clear vision for each class and then decide on a simple set of rules to direct the builders/drivers into appropriate class.
cheers

Je suis certain que nous pouvons trouver quelque chose qui devient un compromis pour tous. Halo sera capable de définir quelque chose de bien, autrement un fera un retour arrière "statu-quo".

Well, 1200lbs springs won't help you at all at ASE! I heard it's difficult to keep the car going straight with all the bumps so 1200lbs springs would just slow you down a lot.

For me, all cars modified a little or a lot are no more production cars. But can be all classed in ''street car'' if they are still legal on the roads.

avec la nouvelle asphalte ase est plus smooth ue icar ...

Sheez JFL... It was just an example... How can you declare any spring rate too stiff without knowing the car or suspension geometry in question? 1200lbs can be under 450lbs wheel rate on one car and 1100 on another!

Anyways, when are you coming out to smash the ASE lap record?

1. Copy/paste pages 10-23 of Redline TA rules into our rules. https://www.redlinetimeattack.com/images/rules/RLTA_Rules_V3.pdf
2. For Street/Mod/Race classes combine RWD+AWD, keep FWD separate.
3. For new Enthusiast class keep AWD/RWD/FWD separate

This will increase competition without diluting into too many classes (we stay at 9 classes total) and allow an easier entry for beginners.

Looks good in my opinion!
