Do I pay taxes on 10 year old car if I import from the states

If I import a 10 year old car from the US car into Canada do I still pay both taxes?

The US registered car I'm looking to buy is already in Canada and has crossed the border. Will I still need to pay the 6.1% duties and 2 taxes?

U should be clear....so the car u want to buy is in canada already..??? if so you have to pay taxes on what ur "paying it".

like if the car was in qc oh and an inspection!

Yes the car is already in QC. So you'r telling me that I save the 6.1% duties + taxes if the car has already crossed the border? All I need to do is get it inspected at Canadian tire?

If the car is already plated in Qc then all u do is go to the SAAQ like u would normally do!

If its not plated yet then u have to get it inspected by a garage recomended by the SAAQ for inspections and then u can plate it and pay ur 9.975% tax on it!

depend how its crossed the border . if its was just crossed by american citizen guy who just visit a canada ---in that case ,you need to go back to us/canada border , and do all process with all taxes and all verifications .

and maybe even virified by us border that car can be sell it outside of us . (somebody need to confirm that)

if the car is over 15 years you get exemption from the RIV (no need to register and pay the $195+tax) otherwise you pay duties (if it's not from the NAFTA region) and taxes
Now if the car is already here with a legal Quebec plate, then it's a straight purchase, if it's from a visitor/work/study permit holder and it's paid in full (meaning the owner has the title) then you'll have to go to the US side and leave the title there for 72 hours so they can run the plate and make sure it's not stolen etc. Once that's cleared US export will stamp it and then it will be ready to be imported.
On the canadian side you have to declare the vehicle as an import and they'll do the form1 and there you pay federal and duty, after that you go home and register the vehicle on riv.ca, get it inspected and pay the provincial at the SAAQ

False.

Unless its Quebec plated you need to export it from the US (leave original title 72h). You won't save any taxes and you'll pay the 6.1% only if manufactured outside north america.
