Buying a car and response from sellers....

I'm looking at this car online that I really like and that's for a good price, but there's only one pic of the car from outside and far away and the description just says "condition showroom."

I send the guy a first message asking for pics.

He sends them to me.

I like what I see. So I send him a second message asking for the serial number to check the history of the car.

His answer copy/pasted:

tu veut donc bien des renseignement

What the fuck am I supposed to do? lol I asked the 2 fucking basic questions in purchasing a car. He only answered one. lmao

I sent an email back saying:

Bonne chance dans la vente. Apparemment ça fait déjà 2 mois et demi que c'est a vendre. J'imagine que vous n'êtes pas pressé ou motivé.

I was interested to buy the car but just that answer turned me off and I don't want to give my money to this douche even if he answers back.

Ever get dumb answers of the sort from people selling their cars and you're interested to buy it?

I was looking for a beater last week, saw an add with the ''doit partir'' in the title.

I call the guy and so on. I said i wanted to go see the car and he kept responding that he didnt know when he had a day off.

I went somewhere else lol

If the guy seems like an asshole I pretty much wont buy the car off him lol. It usually makes you question the condition of the car too.

You shouldn't waste your time if they are hesitant or just sound fishy, either they are just testing the market to see what kind of offers are coming in or something is wrong with the car. NEXT!

I have dozens of stories like this.

I stopped buying and selling cars privately cause I was sick of this shit. The last straw was last year When i was shopping, i specifically asked about 10 times if the car had heated seats (it wasnt clear in the pics). My car had to have heated seats and sunroof, NO exceptions. The seller insisted it had heated seats, I asked him many times "are you sure?", and he insisted each time. I drove one hour to see the car and the car didn't have heated seats. I fucking went ballistic and left.

I was so sick of dealing with buyers-sellers I didn't even bother selling my car at the time privately. I went to the dealer and lost a few grand on the trade in, paid a few more grand for a certified car, and no fucks were given. I'm also done with owning cars, I'm leasing from now on.

That seller is either the most socially unadapted moron or you just asked the question that would give away a big scam... Keep calm & carry on; htere are plenty of other rides for sale...

I remember when me and odman went all the way to charlevoix to a guy who was advertising his prelude as "jamais conduit l'hiver, body a1, pas de rouille" and i called and asked "is body and paint mint? Its never, ever seen winter?" And he says "non. Il ny a rien. La voiture a été conduit l'hiver seulement quand je l'ai achetée pour la ramenée chez nous! Il y a seulement quelques ptit imperfections." Cool. drive 3 hours with odman with the intention of buying it. Get there. Rust around windshield, rust in quarter, rust on door. Go under the car punching holes into the rocker panel with my fingers and ripping out chunks of rust. Was sooooooooooo fucking pissed and dissapointed. We told the guy wed have lunch and come back after thinking about it. We just left and came back home.

If that scenario went down today, i think i wouldve fucking kicked holes through the guys quarter and rocker panels and raged like nobodies business.

Went to look at an EG sedan once. Seller said in his ad that there was "NO RUST":jack: Car looked ok but the respray was so bad I could see the sanding marks. Brought my trusty Bondo magnet and it wouldnt stick to the quarters. Seller kinda gotta upset and said if I wasnt serious then I should leave. So I did. Just one of many scenarios I have had to endure as a buyer.

Same thing happened to me. Drove to Ottawa to look at a 2003 GLI VR6. Owner claimed it was rust free, and had no repairs required. I had the guy drive to Tapp auto to get it inspected before I drove down. He found the discs and pads needed replacement, rear axle bushings, and power steering hose (the expensive one) was leaking. Fine, that didn't bother me much, as the car looked clean. Other than that, the car checked out, I asked the mechanic if the car was clean, he said yes.

When I drove down to Ottawa to see it, I found rust everywhere. Granted, none of it was visible from outside, but there massive rust Inside the two front doors, Inside each fender, and two major bubbles where the fenders met the rocker panels. I counted over ten spots of rust on the car. Basically it looked great now, but in a few months or a year tops, it needed rust repair on nearly every panel minus the roof. Told the guy I was interested, but he'd have to play on the price, he didn't want to budge so i drove back home.

He was a really nice guy, and I understand how someone who doesn't maintain their car themselves can overlook rust developping in those kind of areas, but I just can't put up with wasting so much of my time for nothing.

I still have pics of this car, so here it is. It really looked this mint when I saw it in person, too bad it was rotting from the Inside out...

When I was "shopping" for my Impreza this January I called this guy who had a Legacy Outback with the H6 engine for sale. The color (olive green) blew chunks but the photos looked clean and the price was right, I called, left a message. No callback. I called a few days later and spoke with the guy and asked him basic information about the car then I asked for the VIN.

He didn't have the VIN.

I told him to send me the VIN by email or just call me back with the VIN.

He never called me back.

OK...I bought another Subaru.

It's that simple, you don't want to cooperate? Keep your car.

There are tons of idiots selling shit out there... Many who are members on this forum. Buyer beware is what I've learned; if you don't get the answers you want, move on and fuck that shit.

Grandeur? Capacité des essieux? Année?

We live in a ticoune culture though, which doesn't help. Here are some REAL for sale ads from a Honda Facebook group that I'm on. They usually come with 1 or 2 blurry pictures that don't show half of the car.

What happened to detailed, accurate descriptions?

The worst part is, people are all over these cars! Guys commenting that they're takers when they haven't heard half of what they need to know, or even seen the car in person. So, as much as the sellers suck, I blame the buyers too!

A friend at work called a seller on kijiji and asked for the car's VIN. The seller got offended and replied something like "no shit, do you want my SIN too?" Apparently a car's VIN is confidential info...

Trying to buy cars for scrap is twice as hard, trust me. You would think its easy, it's really not. Some clients want to show you all the repairs done in the past 10 years, as if it makes any difference at all. Some insist I need to drive it to appreciate it. Some demand too much money, meanwhile it doesnt start, all 4 brakes are seized solid and the hood won't even open..

Most recent bitch from the so clean group saying I never called, after I spent 3 days calling almost every hour. Said I didn't leave a number even though it was clearly posted. She ended up getting 50$ for it because the fucking bitch couldn't use a phone.

Saw one of those "too good to be true" type ads once. Figured I have nothing to lose except 2 hours of driving and a bit of time.

Get there; car looks nothing like the pictures. Ask the seller why the pictures are so different and he says the pictures are from 3 years ago...
You didn't think to mention that in the 3 emails and multiple text messages? Granted he only wanted $1200 for the car which is why it was too good to be true, but thats not the point.
Since then I never bring cash with me when going to see a car for the first time. I rather make a trip that takes a few hours twice than waste my time pulling money out then depositing it.
