Took some pics of my dads car today, he's (relunctantly) putting it up for sale, if he can find someone that will care for it, as he did.

Thought I'd share some pics, since clean, unmolested MK4's are rare nowadays, they still exist! He barely puts 5K a year on it, has another daily driver, and take the bus to work... Car has 101 000KM and hasn't seen winter since 2006.

2003 Jetta 1.8T Wolfsburg

He put a few mods on it, although none of the mods are visible, except for the OEM brushed aluminium dash trim

Eurodyne Stage 2 re-flash
Rawtek 3'' downpipe
Dash trim and cluster for GTI 337
20MM spacers
Re-finished BBS RXII with Yoko S-Drives

Won't be too long before someone picks it up, cuts the springs, puts a vintage roof rack, grinds the paint off the hood, puts a unitronic chip to blow the turbos and slaps on some c5 sawblades.

I don't know but with his asking price (10K), he's either not going to sell it, or will attract the kind of buyer that will take care of it like he did. He told me he wanted 12K for it, I told him might as well just store the car already, even at 10K it's a stretch. I guess he just wants to see if he can find the right buyer, otherwise he's storing it for good and I guess it'll be somewhat collectible one day, or just a cool car to drive around in 20 years.

BTW, my dad already chipped the car, has a stage 2 Eurodyne re-flash and a 3'' downpipe with a race cat, LOL. It pulls real strong, should be around 240hp and 280lb-ft of torque.
 
I doubt Jettas are ever going to be collectibles... too common for that.

This one is really mint and good looking though !

Yeah I guess collectible was a strong word, even with ''somewhat'' placed before it. I guess a more proper word would be ''desirable'' to some people.

I know my dad would pay big bucks for a clean orange MK1 Rabbit S (just like he had in the 80's) if he could only find a clean, original one... I spent a year trying to find his old one, or an identical example somewhere in North America, couldn't find a single one that was worth it

d'apres moi a 7500-8500$ il pourrais espérer pouvoir la vendre , en haut de sa il va la garder mais d'un sens c'est sa qu'il veut donc c'est aussi bien ainsi

sa me fais pensé a mon père qui veut vendre sa Chrysler Crossfire 2005 Mint mais qui ne veut pas vraiment la vendre pour vrai et bien il l'annonce trop cher juste pour dire ..

Before I clicked I expected to see something ''more worthy'' ... (american muscle, bad ass bimmer, huge benz) .. But when I saw a Jetta I was disappointed.. Your title is ''too loud'' for a Jetta.

Sure looks like new but I don't see the point of having a Jetta as a garage queen and having ANOTHER daily driver just to preserve a Jetta.. Absurd..
 
Les MKIV, spécialement la Jetta est ma génération préférée. Beaucoup de valeur sur une voiture de ce calibre et la puissance est très bien tout en restant confortable. On est vraiment loin des MKVI
 
Bah j`ai une vielle Jetta 2000 avec un 2.0 et seulement 180 000km... le body est TRES solide... mais j`ai déjà pensé à vouloir le stripper au complet et le refaire d`un bout à l`autre et mettre un VR6 dedans... Et non finalement, je la conduit et elle va venir a la presse lorsque le moteur va me lacher.... ce n`est que mon daily drive le char... mais effectivement, Le jetta, est probablement la voiture compact la plus confortable que j`ai eu.

My dad is an immigrant with the most hardcore "don't spend and save your money" mentality. He doesn't take vacations, he doesn't drink nice wine, he doesn't go to nice restaurants, and he could afford a ridiculously nice sports car, a classic car, or a nice classic car, but it would be wasting money in his head. His mentality doesnt make much sense to me, Since having a car you don't use is wasteful. but that IS his garage queen whether you consider it worthy or not. Sadly this is the nicest car he's ever bought.

The day he retires I'm going to buy him a brand new BMW, cause I know he'll never treat himself to one on his own. He will probably store it and drive a beater Civic, but at least I could say I tried:D

Sounds a lot like a typical immigrant father.. Reminds me of mine :)

Getting a nice Harley for my father for his BDAY soon, I can only imagine how much he is going be afraid of a fly sitting on it !

That's exactly like my father.
Pure old greekster mentality and even though he's a self made millionaire his last cars have been beat up cars like grand prix, bonneville etc.

Only now did he lease an Elantra for like 2 bills a month.
I understand to save money for your children and all but I told him sooo many times to go treat himself to a 740 or s class and he laughs in my face about what a waste and bad investment it is.

He would still be watching tv on his old 30' tube from 1990 if it wasn't for the fact that I went out and bought him a
50' 3d with all the extras like bluray etc.


Anyway I hope your dad sells his modded Jetta and finds something else he'll be happy with :)
