Let's take a look at the IMDB top 50 or so movies just for fun. I cut out older than 1979 because honestly I'm not interested in old movies so we are left with about 30. What movies are overrated/underrated in your opinion?

Most overrated: Se7en
Most underrated: Saving Private Ryan, Forest Gump, Terminator 2.

I guess it all depends on taste.

Overrated : Inception, all 3 lord of the rings (they're not bad movies, but I don't think they deserve their place)

Underrated : Django, The Shining, Memento, Silence of the lambs, apocalypse now.

I can't believe Citizen Kane isn't in the list.. it's one of the most perfect film ever made.
 
Ce n'est pas parcequ'un film arrive 25ieme qu'il est underater!! C'est tres bien si on calcul la quantité de scrap qui sort chaque annee

underrated vs les autres films de la liste. Dans ce cas si, je pourrait meme dire que The Dark Knight est Overrated, parce que y'a des tonnes de films dans cette liste la qui sont meilleur, juste d'une point de vue cinematographique
 
Impossible que "The Departed" soit meilleur que la version originale (Infernal Affairs). Le "fvcking" triangle amoureux dans "The Departed", qui a été ajouté par rapport à la version originale, n'avait simplement pas sa place.

Il y a mieux si on decide danalyser chaque films mais celui la est dans mon personnal top3 simplement a cause de laxe principal du film dedier a l ego.

La liste dIMDB a du sens si on oublie les trucs comme batman pis lord of the ring. qui sont deux excellent films dun point de vue VISUEL , pour moi un bon film tu decroches pas meme avec un budget de 1M

Dailleurs. le film Man from Earth entre dans cette categorie , produit avec 200k , jai adorer meme si durant tout le film ils ne quittent jamais le fameux chalet!

Je me disais ça aussi au debut, mais la liste de IMDB regroupe tout les critères d'un bon film, même le niveau *entertainement*. Parce y'a plein de films dans la liste qui sont horriblement mal tourné, mais qui reste des bon divertissement.

Underrated : Pianist

Overrated : anything related to lord of the rings

The Matrix is my favorite movie with fight club second.
 
LOTR overrated? no other film has brought a world like middle earth to the big screen. really though, can't hate the movie because frodo cried 3/4 of the time... LOTR deserves it's spot.

as for pulp fiction being #2 thats only to cult fans because there are better movies that deserves #2 spot, imo.

and the rest just seems like a collective data of what our generation likes, guns, drugs, mafia.
 
You cut out #2 The Godfather. Completely Amazing movie, but The Shawshank Redemption is amazing too, probably better; I'm biased toward the Godfather because I love gangster movies.

I'll add Gran Torino to that list if you like new movies, but I like old movies.
