Future collectible 50K car

Let's say you were given 50K (before taxes) to buy any brand new car, and just store it for 50 years.

Which sub-50K 2013-14 model year car do you think will be the most collectible in 50 years?

id pick the weirdest options for a recent muscle car (challenger, mustang, charger and whatnot) so that its almost unique and sell it at barett jackson because those people are crazy.

Mustang Boss 302 for sure

A completely unmolested FRS... 'cause you know they are all gonna be beaten, rusted and looking like shit in 20+ years. Just like the AE86. Boss 302 and Camaro SS as well.

Focus ST?

Golf R20?

STI or EVO. Something in those lines.

Try and avoid the Stangs and Camaros - precisely because Barrett-jackson is totally bunkers, I'm sur people are hoarding them.

It would have been nice to grab a G8 GXP - last of a dying breed, that is always something to hold on to.

(EDIT) A Gen 1 Prius, I think will only grow in value. In 50 years, people will look at it the way people look at 64 GTOs and Mk1 GTIs - trailblazers (no, not the GMC POS)...(/EDIT)

Yeah pretty much, it might not be worth a lot but it will be pretty rare in like 10-15 years.

I would get a new sti or something (over 50k maybe?) since those cars get modded and beaten after like 8 years. It's almost impossible finding a fully stock 04-05 sti.

You have to look at what our generation drives, or would want to drive.

Currently muscle cars are expensive because people in their 50's who always liked these cars in the 1970's can now afford one.

Based on that:

BMW 1M
BMW E46 M3 ZCP (in good condition)
E92 M3 in some type of nicecustom color (BMW individual)
Subaru STi, not the standard ones but the STi Limited, STi Spec C, etc.
Mitsubishi EVO 9
Mitsubishi EVo 6 (if you can find one)
Mustang BOSS 302
Camaro ZL1
C5 Corvette Z06
Audi RS4
Audi S4
Mercedes C63
Lotus Exige
Lotus Elise
Porsche GT3 / GT3 RS (not 50K, but...)

that said, I would like any of these cars any day, might be a little bit subjective but I find these cars could hold their value a lot.

My boss had an E30 M3, Canadian car, never driven in rain, snow, or even sunshine, always under a cover. It had 9000km when he sold it a few years ago. I think it sold for around 50 000$. Now THAT would have been something to buy !

I passed on an E30 M3 last year (Quebec car) with 87,000km for $25K. Was all ready to buy (pending inspection) until some dumbass buyer came in and bought it with no inspection.

I would like to find an E46 M3 cloth interior, 6-speed, no sunroof.

Forget 1st gen prius, the OP said brand new. For 50k there isnt much. For a bit more you have models that will more likely become collectibles.

Tesla S
GTR
Shelby500
BMW 1
Corvette stingray maybe?

Under 50k i think fastwheel has the best answer: boss302
