First winter with the coilvers on the rsx. I packed up the pillow ball top with marine grease, and used antiseize lub. on all the threads. Perch locks and so on. I don't feel like swapping in the stock shocks, and just wanted MTL Racing's advice about coilvers usage in winter.

Let me know on some tricks, and tips too.

Who's riding with they car stereo system in their car ?

Personally i just put my mine in storage... don't want my CD Player to get rust.

coilovers + winter = not the best

you can do it, avoid it if you can, when the road gets all ****ed up with elevated ice patches and shit like that, it will be really rough in your car. also coilovers driven in winter tend to need rebuilds sooner, you did well in taking a few precautions but you will still lose a lot of life of the coilover. also its fun enjoying the ride quality of stock suspension for a couple months, especially on our roads

A lot of coilovers have temperature limits, usually -5 is the coldest you can go without risk of damage to the seals and whatnot.

Not to mention they will rust and be a bitch to adjust after. The best thing to do, obviously, is the store the car, but if you won't do it, then at least swap in another suspension.

this is my second winter with my coilovers on my RSX...

i think they're on their last legs, and i'll be replacing them next summer. i'm VERY tempted to swap back the stock suspension for the winter, but i'll probably get lazy lol....

On my 3rd year driving in winter with my tanabe sustec pros.

So far my method has been full proof. No rust, seizing or any problem whatsover when spring comes aorund...

Clean them well, slap a sh!t load of white grease on them, then wrap the coils tightly with plastic and zip ties.

I used to ride them, good for shoveling

moi je les monte, met de la graisse pis ca va etre ben correct!!! anyway sur le site ils dise tu les baisse pour l'été pis monte les monte pour l'hivers donc j'assume que ca va tenir le coup

all it takes is a jack and 2 hours to change all your suspension back to stock, dont be lazy it will pay off in the long run

Last time I've checked, my cd player has a rusted resistor. Again, MR2 aren't exotic cars...why store it in...maybe that's all you can afford?

I get your point, but then again, the platic bag will trap moisture in the system and cause either way a faster oxydation of aluminum and metal parts...won't it?

shit, i was just thinking of raising it and shooting grease...
now i gotta swap em off? shit, i'm so lazy though.

Whitefool. Bofinger was miam!!!!!!!!!!!

I ought to kick that pug's ass sometimes when master disaster is not around.

Time to order some cheap ass stock shocks then...close the thread

I'm leaving mine on all year round. I'm not slammed. just a 1.5" drop all around and it only cost $350 to rebuild mine so it's not so bad if they last 2 years at a time. Besides that they under warranty for the first 2 years :)
