According to Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla Motors and SpaceX, cars are two-tonne death machines and humans could eventually be banned from driving them one autonomous cars take over.
His comments came during a speech in San Jose at the Nvidia developer conference. Nvidia is a technology company which manufactures computer graphics chips.
« Tesla is the leader in electric cars, and we’ll also be the leader in autonomous cars, » Musk said. « It’s going to be the default thing ».
« It’s just going to become normal, like an elevator, » he continued. « They used to have elevator operators and then we developed simple circuitry to have elevators just automatically come to the floor you’re at… the car is going to be just like that. »
Musk later clarified the comments via Twitter just in case anyone was worried he was hoping to ban people from driving.
However, when self-driving cars become safer than human-driven cars, the public may outlaw the latter. Hopefully not.
