Ironically enough my boss went through something simular with Subaru just last week.... He purchased a 2012 STI from Subaru Laval and from day one has been having check engine light issues. The first time it happened he brought it to Subaru west island and they said it needed to be reset.... this happens 2 more times and each time he goes back to Subaru west island and the reset it! Thursday of last week it happens again, he calls the Subaru west island they tell him to bring the car in this week and they will reset it, by this point he is annoyed and wants this issues resolved. He calls Subaru Laval and they tell him to bring it in right away as the turbo is blown. Upon arrival at Subaru Laval... with zero back round history on the car and no verification by the mechanic, the service manager proceeds to give him attitude telling him that it will not be under warranty as all young guys like him modify their STI's. Keep in mind my boss is 31 years old and his STI is bone stock. He explains to her the situation to her and she blows him off by reiterating that she has seen this before by all the young guys who buy STI's. He then asks for a curtosey car and they tell him they have none, and that he will have to rent one and pay for it out of his pocket with no refund from them.
He asks to speek to the dealer manager and gets told he is out of the building, so he he leaves. He calls the dealer manager a couple of hours later and gets told that because hes english and she is french that he probably misundertood her! my boss is perfectly bilingual but does speak french with a english accent. he tells the dealer manager this and then proceeds to ask if they have retrieved his dossier from Subaru west island and have they checked the car. The answer is no.... so he asks about getting a curtosey car, and is told the same thing that he was told from the service manager. at this point my boss is now incredibly angry and says that if he does not have a curtosey car by tomorrow he will file a formal complaint with Subaru Canada.
The next day the dealer manager calls him and says they have a curtosey car for him, but that he will have to pay 15$ a day for it. My boss goes to pick up the car... he asks if they have any update on his car... buy this point both the dealer manager and the servicer manager are red in the face because they now no the car is stock and that the fault starts with Subaru west island.
He is picking up his STI tomorrow... i will update when i know more.
