This city is one of the very few cities in the world where traffic problem can be solved in just few days.

1. Set the price for crossing the bridges for those who do not live on the island. 10$ every day will cut off 30% of those who come here from south shore for no reason taking their car.

2. No big trucks on the island or on the highways from 8-10 and from 4-6. You want to deliver during these hours, use small trucks like it is done in Europe. They do not allow those huge trucks in the city, never. In Montreal, every bloody IGA or Metro or Caca tire think that the delivery can be only done by those huge trucks. So yeah, no big trucks on the highway at the rush hour, no big trucks in residential area / downtown any time of the day or night.

Now all this solve 50% of the traffic problem, for the bridges and inner city circulation. The problem of jammed 20 and 40 is not that easy to solve, gotta build metro to West Island.

And the main problem, Decarie north. I really want to meet with the engineer who designed this highway and teach him some fluid mechanics. All the traffic happens because of the Ferrier entrance and further turbulence when everyone is sorting out to 40 East and West.

Easy fix: have carpool lanes. But theoretically, that would require every highway to be one lane wider. The problem here is that you're all trying to blame traffic on one factor, the reality is that there's a plethora of reasons why traffic is so dense in the city. You have trucks, you have too many cars on the road, you have a large number of drivers who suck (which in turns causes more traffic), you have weather factors that impair drivers, bad street/highway designs, etc.Traffic will always be present and you better believe that if you relieve congestion during rush hour, more people will start using the highway, leading to more traffic.[/mrquote]they have a carpool lane on the 15 north and the 25 to terrebonne and everybody is driving on it...sure the car that cuts everybody are a part of the problem, but they are to many cars in montreal that don't belong here, how many people take their car to go to work when they work 10 minutes from home....hello..take the bus caliss...this summer is very particular with all the road work everywhere....it's jammed even on saturday and sunday...so where are the truck now....did not see one today in the tunnel and it was jampack....explain please,lol[/mrquote]

My thoughts exactly. I have to take the f***in tunnel every day to and from work and it's always the same s***. The amount of traffic caused by bad driving, negligent car owners and random unnecessary incidents is astounding. Oh well, such is life in Quebec.
