Believe me; with all due respect to Gregster, I am nowhere near crazy about Neons! However, if, in 25 years, you find a Neon in perfect condition, it will definitely make your head turn!
 
When I started this thread I was not expecting some of these cars. People are free to post what they think will be a classic, but at the end of the day a massively produced car does not stand the chance of becoming a classic.

I can name many cars that are 20-25 years old today and are nowhere near being classics. A classic must be a car that is special, limited or made an impact at it's time. For example, a BMW E30 is not a classic, but the E30 M3 is. Not all Porsches are classics, certainly not the 924, 944, 968, 928, however the sports model are. The 944 Turbo S, 928 GTS-4, may become classics.

Of the modern day Americans, I see the Corvette (certain special models), the Magnum with the Hemi (limited production). As for the Japs, Nissan Skyline (certain models), Z car, Honda S2000, Integra Type R, Supra turbo, RX-7 (certain models).
 
You may be right. As for Chrysler, if they go bankrupt and disapear then they may become classics. The problem is that they are mass produced.

regarde les chevrolets belair 1955 et 1957 ca fait plus de 40 ans que le monde les courent et les pontiac buick et oldsmobile des memes annees le sont pas mal moin et personnes n'a vraiment d'interet pour les bel air 1956 et 1958

et depuis quelques annees les chevelles hard top 69-72 rondes ont la cote et ont parle de chars de production de masse encore

classique ne veut pas dire rare des centaines de modeles rares ne sont pas des classiques pour autant ce qui fait un classique c'est l'interet des gens envers un modele qui reste constant

la porsche 911 refroidie a l'air est un classique les modeles 911 refroidies a l'eau ne le seront pas

et bizaremment si l'interet pour les civic debut 90 continus dans quelques annees quand le modele aura 20 ans on aura un classique , aussi plate que ca peut paraitre
 
un classique c'est quand ca va valoir du $, parce que ca a un heritage ou c'est rare, ou autre.

Une neon ca va etre rare, mais personne va payer cher pour ca

c'est comme beeen des vieilles voitures, si elles n'ont pas un tel moteur, ou un tel modele, bien elles valent pas grand chose!

c'est pas parce que tu te vires la tete pour dire "crisse, une neon des années 1990 pis on est en 2020 wow quel classique si j'avais le cash j'en acheterais une"

exactement mais meme parceque rare ca ne garantis pas que ce sera un classique valeur plus eleve que la moyenne peut etre mais pas plus
prend exemple sur les ferrari tu peux trouver des modeles moin de 25 ans pas grand mileage pour moin de $25 000 et ca ne vaudra pas plus dans 10 ans ou 20 ans rare mais ordinaire et sans interet soutenu par une clientele
par contre cherche pas une 512bb dans les memes prix
 
In all honestly no one can predict the future do you think people buying 1932 Ford coupes were thinking their cars would become collectables in the future? Cars that are limited editions or very popular that have been modified (rather destroyed) Take the CRX, GTI 16V, the Scirocco, The corrado, del sol, type -r tegs, supras,........Not many were made and of them so many were stolen , modded, trashed, etc. They have a better chance of becoming collectables ....
 
Original Neon R/Ts and ACRs will be classics and the ACR has a racing past. The SRT-4 ACR will be a classic as well. All cars were low number productions, rare to find in good shape and have a following. Good thing I see the future and have started a Neon museum. :D

To the person who said Kcars are classics, well back 15 years ago they weren't but now people search hard for prime examples. So who knows... I don't think we will see a Neon ACR selling for 100k but I do see a prime example selling for maybe 10k in the future.

A real future classic will be an unmolested Integra Type R and a Rado VR6 are among my top picks.

However in 20-30 years the cars fetching big $$$$ such as those late 60s muscle cars will be fetching even more money. Right now the next up and coming cars are the 2nd gen Fbodys..
 
Faut pas oublier que dans 25-30 ans, le gaz va etre tellement cher et rare que la plupart de ces chars la pourront meme pas rouler!:p

And I agree with Gregster, ACR neons will have some recognition, they already do.


Cars that achieve "classic" status are usually cars that are a representation of the times in which they were built. That`s why early GTI's are classics or first gen GTOs. The dodge stealth never captured an era (no offence), the Integra Type R on the other hand did in many respects.

je crois que ca aura sa place il n'y en a pas eu des tonne et bang for bucks intéressant ... un sport compact a l'état pur qui survivra p-t au temps
